Hi,

Well tonight is the start of the new Top Gear :woot::woot:

And... according to Clarkson and the BBC "The Stig" will be removing his helmet.

I am not sure if i want to find out for sure who it is or not....
 
I think most people know who it actually is... but I dont think they will unveil the stig for real, I think they will unveil him and he'll have a smaller stig helmet on underneath or something comical like that.
 
There's definitely a "not to be missed" moment with the Stig tonight, according to Vicky Butler-Henderson (who is married to the producer of Top Gear) on the Absolute Radio breakfast show on friday morning :)
 
If they show it is Ben Collins, a lot of people will say "Who's he".
 
Maybe they'll use Button? Everyone knows who he is at the moment and hes the right sort of height and build isnt he? Also he would've been in the country this week when it was filmed...
 
hmmm well as its the week of the GP, i reckon a GP driver might be the stig this week...
 
I once did a photo feature on the origonal stig Perry McCarthy, that was 25 years ago. When he let it slip they pretended he had driven off the end of an aircraft carrier and died. I wonder what fate waits for the current one

My money in on Schumacher or Button or something along those lines.

Or maybe a women? :o

EDIT - as a joke stig obviously, dont think it is actual them.

TBH it doesnt matter who they show as the stig as everyone knows who it really is and also there has been a few times when the laps have been done by other drivers when certain isues have arisen.

A women isnt out the question they have worked with the German lady who instructs at the Nurburgring Nordschleife on a few occasions.
 
A women, that would be a surprise! Either that or its a publicity stunt to draw in viewers.
 
There was a story a couple of months ago regarding the stigs identity with a comment from the BBC that Top Gear had used 6 drivers to play the stig including a Formula 1 driver. Other names banded about were Ben Collins and Russ Swift.

you know and i know that the stig is a gimmick, but we all love it!!!!

He isn't the real one, its just the fact that they had his FXX on the show.

Am gutted that we don't get the latest Top Gear out here... got to wait for it to be sent over on DVD.

That's what I thought. Seemed like a waste of having Shumacher on the show. Was never a fan of his but would have been nice to get a proper interview and lap out of him.

Ye it was his FXX, so that probably the only reason they got Shumacher to come on the show, so that they could get that beast on the track, there was no way ferrari would lend Top Gear an FXX.

i really want an FXX.
 
i'm wondering however, if one of reasons the fxx was so quick around the track is because he was driving it? because it'd be pretty hard for them to get someone that good in a car every week.

i also want one, but i'd probably kill myself in it within half an hour of owning it (and i wouldnt get insured for ****)

as i said earlier there has been a few occasions were certain cars have been driven by certain drivers (the veyron was rumoured to be driven by tom chilton).
 
I think its fairly safe to assume the Stig that drove the ferrari [what a triumph of function over form that is :gag: ] was the same Stig thats was then 'revealed' ;) I quite enjoyed the interview, never been a Schumacher fan but he did well with the general Clarkson urine extraction interview techniques and made me smile :D
 
As soon as I saw that new Ferrari, I knew who the 'plastic' Stig would be...lol
If they don't let the owners take the damn things home, what chance has TG got of getting one to play with?
