2 years ago I bought a refurbished 27" iMac

Recently it started not powering up, the chimes came on but no picture

Luckily I'd bought the 3 year AppleCare

Took it back to the apple shop in the Trafford centre,, they tested it out then decided it needed parts so I left it

A week later I got a phone call , they'd replaced the obvious parts but weren't happy with it

So they've replaced it with a new one, I picked it up today, I was expecting the same spec , but no, they've swapped it for the newest £1500 version with an i5 processor which is new not refurbished

They've even transferred all my data from the old iMac

To say I'm impressed is an understatement

Proper customer service

Brilliant. Apple get knocked too often. This is a great story.
Thanks for letting us know.

I forgot to mention, they've also said it'll come with either 12 months warranty or if the AppleCare is longer it'll be transferred to this iMac

It gets better

I hadn't noticed they'd replaced it with the latest spec retina display model, the problem is the screen is that thin there's no room for an optical drive, this is a bit annoying as I do use it a lot so I rang and complained

They're posting me out a standalone SuperDrive and a FireWire adaptor to get it back to the spec of the one I sent in for repair, that's £1700 worth in total

Not bad considering the refurbished one I had was a 2009 model bought in July 2010 so almost 2 1/2 years old

What you've experienced is simply normal Apple after sales service. It's the best I've ever experienced, and a way they keep their customers

I was never a apple fan but after sales service is top notch. It's worth paying the extra but it's a slippery slope as it all looks so nice

Of course it's excellent warranty service, that's because you paid well over the odds for the Apple name.

That's the sort of service I'd expect from anybody if I'd paid for a three year warranty

You might expect it but in my experience you don't get it

Most would only repair it, they certainly wouldn't upgrade to the latest spec for free 2+ years down the line

My sister had boiler cover, they said they'd replace the boiler if it couldn't be fixed, it broke down every 3 months for years, while the parts were available they kept fixing it

When the parts weren't available amazingly it needed a £500 power flush

Years ago I had a video recorder , they kept fixing it until the warranty ran out

This was all before the Internet became such a powerful platform for complaint or research

The only companies I've ever experienced this level of customer service is Costco and apple , both American

You'd kind of expect apple to replace the whole unit as itd would be quicker and easier for them.

I've always had exceptional service from dells extended (paid for) support/warranty/insurance.

I've also had good service many times

Once ive got past the annoying talk to Me like a real person Scottish voice that can't understand English.

I've had exceptional service from them every time I've used them, they do go out of their way especially if you have the Applecare and to be honest they do go beyond what is expected with several repairs that have fallen just outside of the warranty still being carried out at their expense.
