Top 10 most expensive photographs

I sold one for 450 quid. I was the only photographer to get the first goal ever scored by FC United of Manchester. Sold at auction for a charitable cause so I guess that inflates the price

Somebody paid 1.7mil for that? I guess beauty must be in the eye of the beholder after all.

It's got to be because some of them are rare examples of the techniques/process :shrug:

You can understand some of the older photographs making big sums from their historical/rarity.

Its the Andreas Gursky photographs that I find surprising, I personally quite like some of his work and I'm sure it looks great to see it at its full scale, but it's value amazes me.

I'm sure it was Gursky who no longer even operates the camera himself, he uses a camera operator :)

errrr great photos?? :shrug:

nah... Im not jumping on the bandwagon... :bonk::bonk:
are people crazy? :cuckoo::cuckoo:
bad photos sell for lots.... i take bad photos = Good Times :woot:

You need to remember that almost all the ones one the top 10 list are photographs that were printed from the original negative by the original photographer, very close to the date the photo was originally taken. These are the prints that are worth the most.

But theyre still awful :p

At least I now feel there's hope for me to make it big as a photographer!

At the end of the day its what OTHERS want not what specificly you wan't... Its why you see sometimes here people saying that a bench and a wall is a great shot because its got great processing e.t.c. But then out there people are more interested in a countryside shot.

For example :D
