Anyone on here have insurance for their tools?
Just updated my Public Liability insurance to cover my tools but when I looked at the exclusions (which wern't on view until payment was made) they said my tools were not insured in a locked van between the hours of 9pm and 6am?
What rubbish is that?? That is the reason I wanted it in the first place! Needless to say I cancelled immediately
Just wondered if anyone can recommend a good company for this?
Thanks

Have a look at the NFU. My tools (several grands worth) are left in my truck as it’s inpractical to remove the sheer quantity and refit them on a daily basis. I specifically checked with our local branch that they were covered although I have a nagging thought that they may have mentioned it was a clause specifically for farm use. Worth a look though I would say :)

I think you'll find they are all similar, my insurer wanted £60 extra to cover tools in transit no cover for overnight. Having lost best part of £2k worth of hand tools and drills earlier this year I did a little research and decided to add deadlocks and a van vault instead.
To be honest the van vault would probably be enough on its own.
This would take some stick https://www.armorstore.co.uk/secure...armorgard-strongbank-sb1-ultra-secure-van-box

Ended up getting 2k worth of cover-£50 excess for £115 a year from Trade Direct Insurance (Zurich policy) Tools are covered at all times in a locked van and no proof of purchase needed, just a photo log of tools.
Best I could find in the end.
They also do upto £5000 of cover for £226.80
