i have been trying to use some evening dull natural ight for a facial portrait, problemis that its ia always too over exposed or too under exposed.....any ideas how to cure this?:bang:

Usually a reply like this is annoying. But in this case it might be valid:-

"Could you post a picture of your problem??"
 
agreed - we need a picture and preferably with EXIF data so we can se what you're doing.

I don't understand the question. Do you mean the light overall is too light/dull, or do you mean that in any given exposure part of the light is too bright/dull? If it's the first you need to change your exposure via ISO/shutterspeed/aperture. If the latter then you can also change the overall exposure, but that may throw the rest of the shot out, in which case try making the light source dimmer with a diffuser/shade. An example with EXIF would help.
 
thanks all just sorted it with a diffuser ( grease proof paper actually if the truth be told) and it works a treat....many thanks again
