One thing I've bought but not tried yet is a car windscreen protecter/sunshade thats like a brolly, I bought it on recomendation as a reflector (not tried it as that either) but it would certainly provide some shade at a push, as would a golf brolly.

Windscreen shade is a must get - I have a large umbrella but haven't used it for shade, can't think why! :thinking:

I used to use P20 but found that it stains clothes yellow and the stain is impossible to get out! I now use Calypso factor 30 once a day waterproof stuff which does the same job for less than 1/2 the price and doesn't seem to cause the same staining.
 
I am about to leave to photograph a village cricket match. We will start with lunch at the nearby pub. Given the temperature, I will not stay very long at the cricket.

I wasn't aware of that, nearly all my t-shirts are black! That's good to know though, I'll investigate Calypso :)

if it's the same stuff I bought a few years ago, "sun cream" is a bit of a misnomer - the stuff I bought was more like an oil - apply it 20 minutes before going outside, and let it dry onto you. It's more like a "UV resistant varnish" , but honestly it's the only stuff that used to cope with me being out on the pushbike for 8-9 hours, sweating like a, well, like a then 55 year old, 4 stone overweight bloke, struggling to get back to his "remembered fitness" from his 20's and 30's - and riding for 90-100 miles. I'd get home, my mates on the same ride would be strongly resembling a post-accident Nikki Lauda, and I'd have a gently glow - and, that was only after spending best part of 20 minutes removing the "varnish" with hot water and soap. Only downside was that it DID rub away a little at contact points - sleeve cuffs, tops of socks, hems of shorts - and it stained the lighter colours quite noticeably.

Still think it's brilliant though - and still use it even now on my current, much shorter (2-3 hour) rides, but mainly for back of the neck, ears and face, just to prevent looking like a lobster.
 
My commiserations to anyone further south, it must be horrible, but even here at nearly 58 North it is far too hot for me, again.

Yesterday I walked to Fionn Loch(about 5 miles east of Poolewe).

I started at 7am and the walk in was great - sunny but also big clouds to obscure it from time to time and a good strong breeze to keep it pleasant and enough to keep midges away too, though the clegs were in attendance and took a few blood donations. Coming back was different - virtually no clouds and most of time no wind!

Today has been equally hot and by mid morning after a little, light work in the garden I was dripping.

Hope everyone manages to cope and no wazzacks decide to have a BBQ in outdoors.

I'm playing a gig tonight. Just loaded my gear in, and sat here gently perspiring.
 
Was out at the Vintage for Victory festival in Cardiff. Really hot. Did some dancing to really fast rock and roll music and got some good pictures. Discovered that the light coming through a yellow and red marquee made faces look really good in black and white with an orange filter.

I had that on the calendar this weekend. Then I saw the on the gate prices!!
 
It is pretty good if you are doing a full weekend with camping. Not so good if you do a single day (£55 ish). The Dig for Victory show last month was better if you want re-enactors. This is more about the music.

Yeah, the Saturday Dig For Victory was £15
The Vintage Nostalgia Festival for the Saturday was £20 - £15 Sunday
The Gloucester Vintage Extravaganza one is £15 I think....
And I think the Newbury Retro one is about £30ish

£110 for us both plus fuel, some food, some drink just wasn't worth it tbh.
 
It was a nice evening. We've got another next week, and tonight I recognised someone who's been to hear us before - turns out she's organised our event next week. Going to have a shower and bed shortly.

Do they think it is going to stop at 1.5 degrees…?

Its a bit pessimistic, but buckle up. There’s a tough ride ahead, Maybe no need for Musk to go to Mars, as it will be here?

We were at Loch Lomond for a few days last week.
I was bitten like crazy by the clegs but the rest of the family were ok.
They must have a taste for Brewdog Beers and Single malt whisky :LOL: :LOL:

I saw that too and thought, great that's a good way of using even more energy!

I suppose if the power used by air con units is from renewable sources then its not a problem, but the heat has to go somewhere.

Bad luck, Mike.

Although I was bitten on my walk the bites were slight. This surprised me because, as you know, when it comes to biting clegs are not subtle. However, I fare better than Mrs Tringa who comes out in very itchy wheals from a cleg bite.

Alternatively, an insect that likes a single malt can't be all bad.:)
