I had always thought that laser printers and photocopiers were less fussy about their toners than inkjets are about their inks, so when my Samsung reported low toner, I ordered a 7dayshop own brand replacement. A big mistake? Well, no - the cart did give horrendous black straks across every page but that only messed up a couple of sheets of paper completely, the others are still OK for printing on the other side. Contacted 7day who promised me a refund and told me not to bother returning the naff one. Ordered a genuine one from Amazon and it works fine, so no permanent harm done, just a lesson learned! Now need to find somewhere to recycle the empty and naff carts. Will try cartridge world, I think.

Just watch out if you have any warranty left as it can invalidate it.

Also watch out for excessive toner drop, jamming and error messages with compatibles. Been there done that at work with our HPs and Canons.. Our Ricohs though we get shipped compatibles from our lease company.

As I said, now got genuine Samsung cart fitted and it works just fine. After a few calls, have been told to just bin the empty and faulty carts - seems nobody can (be bothered to?) recycle the things. I could send it off to a place that buys them but I would need £20 worth to get them collected for free and postage would cost me £2.70 (IIRC) with them paying me only £1. Local dump doesn't recycle them, just drops them into landfill, so I've cut out the middle man and binned them!

genuine ones normally come with a prepaid postage label, not so sure about cheapo 3rd party
