I don't see what Tom Daley has done to deserve that kind rubbish.

I'd be a bit p****ed off if someone was threatening/bullying/hectoring me about my dead Dad completely unprovoked.

Hopefully high profile cases (media wise) like this will deter these cretins to getting a life rather than spending time their time aimlessly provoking people.

Must admit, I hadn't heard much of the story, or read any of the twitter stuff.

But, when someone has clearly been caught driving a vehicle over the speed limit, something that actually does kill people year after year, police dont raid them.

So why raid this nasty minded lads house when they have the evidence of his crime?
 
The guy is obviously an arse! but so are those who chose to be offended on behalf of Daly! If Daly had reported it to the police? then that could have been a different matter... but I don't believe he did? :shrug:

That's because it wasn't just his comments to Daley that were offensive it was a combination to that and then all the people he went on to threaten and insult afterwards.

Fair enough! but it's still just words!

Last night had a story about a chap who was harassed by teenage thugs which had been going on for months, if not years, he was beaten to a pulp when he confronted them :shake: The police didn't do much about all the reports leading up to it....... they called it anti-social behaviour. :shrug:

Tell that to the victims of columbine when Eric Harris and Dylan klebold had a hate site up. Those weren't just words. You never know someone's intentions with the words they say and write.

Can you describe how?

Before they killed all those children they hadn't shot anyone and were very unlikely suspects. They were merely delinquents who wrote a lot of "just words" by your reckoning.

Look how it turned out.

Someone who constantly threatens and abuses people shouldn't be overlooked, you never know whether they are willing to carry through their threats, why take the chance?

Did he constantly threaten and abuse people? I don't know but if the police were that interested why did they leave it till now? Is Daly more important than the others? :thinking:

Words are still just words! What next the thought police?..... and what about the everyday folk who complain about actual acts and threats?...

so if someone was posting on the internet about your dead loved ones and threatening to kill you repeatedly along with others, you wouldnt expect any sort of help from the authorities if it bothered you?

Probably not, as I am not famous/idolised. There must be hundreds If not thousands of threats made on twitter each day. Not that many get a full blown investigation from our boys in blue. There are plenty of stories about school bullies having nothing done about them.

perspective? why should anyone be able to get away with hiding behind a keyboard and saying things like that? like i said earlier if it was done in public youd probably end up with a public order offence.

You need to step back and take 5 mins on this without coming across as an arse and provoking for the sake of it. Has he committed an offence. Actually yes - several. Has he done anything physical. No not yet. Is there lots of evidence of late of muppets threatening to do things (see posts above - yes.)

Had the police ignored it and Tom Daley woke up dead in a swimming pool drowned and someopne else lying there with a knife rammed down his throat (Idiots threat - not my words) would there be public outcry and would the UK be on terror threat Gold (or whatever the max level is.) Yes.

Police were damned if they did, damned if they didn't.

100% straight up question. Do you think it socially acceptable for the guy to make those comments on a worldwide accessible platform? Sod free speech and all that crap.
 
His threat to kill him has as much validity as the guy who threatened to blow the airport up on twitter, case now been quashed by the high court.

Nobody will threaten me on Twitter for the simple reason I'm not on Twitter and have not opened every tiny part of my life to the general public.

Yes this young lad is stupid and has said some very nasty things, but if you open your door to the public don't be shocked if a nutter or two walks in.

Never understood why people put their whole life out their to be read on the net then complain about it. twitter face book etc they are all the same just places for people to get private info to beat you round the head with.

What that little scroat did was nasty vile and twisted and i hope he gets his butt kicked for it but i think if your stupid enough to give people private info about your life then you have to take some responsibility for what happens.

No one deserves to have threats made but how many people have had threats via text email etc etc and nothing has ever been done about it why is it always twitter we hear about all the time.

hang on, whats peoples private info got to do with anything.. celebs and businesses use twitter (etc) to let their fans know what is happening with their latest events for example. got nothing to do with someone coming along and saying theyll drown them.
