I'm looking for a decent landscape lens that'd be suitable for nighttime/astrophotography.

I was planning to go with the 24mm Signa ART as this would also get used for other stuff (group portraits, etc) but I've seen a lot of people mention the 11-16mm Tokina for landscapes.

I'd be shooting on a 70D so the extra width is tempting with the Tokina but it'd only really have one use as opposed to the multiple uses for the Sigma.

Someone say something to stop me buying both of them!

I had a Tokina back when I had my Canon set up. I loved it, great for landscape and night. I would recommend it. I have not used the Sigma so maybe someone else can comment on that, but for the wider end stuff I think the Tokina is hard to beat.

I think I saw that there's a v2 now. Any idea if that's a significant upgrade?

The v2 tokina has its own focus motor so will work on the entry level cameras too.
I had it in Nikon mount and it was excellent. Sharp and fast.

theres some decent samyang/rokenon wide and and fast primes too, which is what you want for astro stuff

I'm quite new to astro stuff but I'd like to do some wide field stuff and the Tokina seems to be one everyone recommends

That's because the Tokina is a fantastic piece of optical legendaryness. Buy it.

I'd have thought the wide angle zoom would be much more versatile if you want if mainly for landscape and astro. That said they're very different lenses and it probably would come down to what you want to shoot more of e.g. landscape/astro vs the "other stuff".

I would have thought the 24mm Sigma Art wouldn't be wide enough on a crop sensor body. I've been looking at the Tokina 11-16mm and it will soon be my next lens purchase.

How much should I be looking at for the Tokina?

Hdew and Panamoz differ by quite a bit in price (£279 vs £355)
