Hi there i found this post searching Google for info on the 11-16 avaliability in UK. I normally buy from Warehouse Express but am wondering if you did or did not get charged VAT in the end?
Have found the ebay buyer you likely used so just wanting to know more.

Great pics and looks like you got a good copy of the lens

Hi, what a complete fluke that you post this on the day that I received a letter from DHL saying I owe them £23.23 - they dont specify what this is for however I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they say :)

Its possibly the import tax :(

But it is an awesome lens though, my instant favourite

Thanks for letting me know. Too bad you got some additional charges though but i am a bit curious as to what the 23 quid is for. When i imported a lens from USA i had to pay to fees....one was a handling charge by the courier for repacking the item after it went through customs and the other was for the import tax. however i was billed for these on delivery.
At least you have the lens and are happy. My other half is giving me a bit of grief about ordering from HK so i will wait till Warehouse Express have some more....if i can :)

The usual process with International Warranties, is that the original distributor (eg Tokina Hong Kong) has to authorise the official local distributor/repair centre (eg Tokina UK) to complete the repairs. Once the UK entity receives the ok, they should accept the faulty goods, fix them, and invoice the original Distributor for the costs. The same process should apply in both directions.

This is how I had my UK sourced Canon 16-35mm L lens repaired when the focos ring failed on a trip to California last year.

Even in Hong Kong, you cannot sell goodS advertising an International Warranty if one does not exist.

If they do not want to play by the rules, another way of doing it is to photoshop an "official UK receipt" from somewhere like Amazon or Jessops.

Kenro UK (official Tokina in UK) have confirmed no problems with Tokina international warranty which is cool :)

TC3 have you looked at http://www.onestop-digital.com/catalog/ ? The guarentee no taxes.

One stop do not offer a international warranty therefore will not be covered by Kenro UK. They will supply one of their own 'special' warranties which have been reported as being pretty poor

Hi i just took a look thanks but see no info regarding a Tokina warranty. All i found was this info ...."Unless otherwise stated, we offer 12 months "Return to Hong Kong" warranty for all of our cameras and 6 months warranty for camera lenses and flashguns."

Weird amount £23.23, it looks like just the collection fee, but for what? If you write (not email) questioning it, you may never hear any more about it ;)

If you're thinking of importing more, you should factor in 20% for Duty and VAT, plus approx £20 for the collection fee. If the items come through the mail, the collection fee would be £8.00.

If that's all I have to pay on mine I'll be happy.
I have been very impressed with this lens so far

dude, have you got the lens from the seller?

Yep. Delivered in less than 2 business days from HK  (albeit over a weekend).
I had actually ordered it just before you PM'd me back after tracing the seller back using your description on the supplied warranty :)

I'd definately use him again for hard to find/stupidly expensive items.

Very enticing to see 2 of you have had good copies from this supplier. I have the go ahead to get one if i want :)

I wanted to ask if the warranty is printed in English or is all supplied paperwork in Chinese?

Not sure i want to wait until they are in stock again and if the warranty will in fact be honoured out here you can not lose really.

I think i have the correct seller....only one to offer it at 420 delivered am i right?

Tokina lenses have a worldwide warranty IIRC. :)

The Tokina warranty is international - it comes with the 2 year certificate which Kenro UK honours. The seller on eBay is Fujisunrise, excellent seller who gets things in quick. Do expect to pay some VAT, I had to pay £23.23 - still cheaper and it does not matter if you buy UK or elsewhere with Tokina. Don't buy from someone who offers their own warranty, they will have removed the Tokina warranty and you will have to go to their select repairers...

Well i just pressed the Buy It Now so now got to wait and hope i recieve a good copy too. Would have been a great lens for my trip up to Northmberland this past weekend. If only i found this post sooner.

Anyway i wanted to say how refreshing it is to find a photo forum that seems very friendly and nothing like dpreview where a lot of brand bashing goes on. After all it is not about the name on the camera but more about the fact we all share and enjoy a certain passion.

I dont care about brand, class, mainstream or fashion - I have specific requirements, if it works it works :)

I really doubt you will be disappointed! ;)

I was worried about HK imports but this thread made my mind up.I just ordered a 12-24 Tokina from the same guy.

He just emailed and asked for my telephone which i have shipped out to him....maybe he meant my number??? :D

Ok ok i will close the door on the way out....

Cool and with the bank holiday coming up there will be plenty of time to get some use out of it.

Anyone bought one from DC Empire on ebay?

They seem good value at £377.23 with free p&p, a 77mm UV filter and claim to include a 3 year official tokina international warranty.

Too good to be true?

Must be their own warranty and they are not being entirely honest...unless it is a typo and they meant to say 2 years.

You mention good copies, I haven't heard of Tokina having bad QC?

I have an email from them somewhere - its there own special warranty

Why do companies not provide the official Tokina warrenty, what's the point in replacing it with their own that will cost them money?

In my experience you will always find bad copies of a lens regardless of make

I think lenses destined for Japan market only have a warranty useable in Japan. I may be wrong but that is were some are sourced from at probably a cheaper rate yet those for worldwide may cost more to get wholesale. Just a guess

Mine is shipped and expected Monday by Fedex and i am hoping that i wont get charged any additional handling charges as opposed to the 23.23 charge of DHL Sophos9 recieved

Well i am getting inpatient awaiting the package so does anyone want to share some more photos taken with this lens?

On a different note does anyone use the Tokina 100mm macro too as the seller has them for a good price?

Dude, all these were taken with the trusty Tokina 11-16mm on a cropped Nikon D300 :)

What can i say but ...brilliant write up and good use of the lens. So the Tokina can capture images of spirits too

I never believed in ghosts or the such until an incident that occured at work a few weeks ago... i find that certain photo of yours so interesting

Thanks for the link

not a big fan of the effects but really nice shots :) good use of the lens indeed

Looks like Fedex messed the delivery up and will not be able to get the lens out to me until tomorrow. Oh well will just have to take camera along to work again tomorrow. Will be visiting Oxford at weekend so will put the lens to good use as plenty there to photo :)

I ordered from this guy on Friday afternoon and the lens was waiting on my desk when I came in this morning. Can't fault the guy for speed of delivery.Lens is brand new as described. No customs charges as yet.
