Hi folks, I'm looking for a bit guidance, as I'm sure there will have been someone on here with a similar issue.

I got the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 last September and recently it has started to throw up err 01 comms fault with the camera (7D). It is becoming more persistent now and needs to be looked at. It was driving me nuts at the autosport show yesterday.

Only issue is that it was bought from Jessops. Doing a search throws up Kenro as someone who may be able to help, but not sure.

Or will I have to go through Tokina.eu site and fill in there request form.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The error codes don't have anything to do with lens issues per se, it's specific to the body.

Iirc error 01 is a card communication error?

Have you tried a different card?

Have tried gently cleaning the golden camera / lens contacts?

As a card error, I don't think that'll make much difference? Unless I'm mistaken about the code sequence.

different cameras, different codes... Sometimes one code can mean a few things...

... so it's just another simple and free thing to try in case it helps

Thanks for the input folks. Much appreciated.

The err01 code on the camera specifies its an error between camera and lens. I've tried cleaning the contacts but seem to have a little play when the lens is 'locked' onto the body. Not a lot but enough to cause it to reset

Steve from kenro has replied to my email this morning so hopefully get some progress.

Error 01 could indicate an issue with the aperture diaphragm within the lens. Try adjusting the aperture and taking a picture. This same fault happened with my 24-105 f/4L and required repairing. This was on a Canon 7D body.

Actually I think you're right anyway, I think er 02 is generally (on Canon's) a card coms fault.

Anyone near you with a canon you can try the lens on?
See whether it errors on there too.

Otherwise, see about a repair on camera/lens/both.

If you are near london, I can recommend fixation, and they guarantee for 3 months after too.

Hope you get it fixed.

Kenro are going to have a look at it under warranty for me
