Yes
I've had this lens arrive today and it's the first time I've used a proper macro lens.

It works fine set to either mf or af and full or limit however there's a ring near the neck of the lens which has numbers starting at 32 which is in green then they descend from 22 to 2.8 in white and I can rotate the collar to select a number.

The lens only works though if it's set to the green number 32 if I click it to any of the other numbers it displays the error message fEE (Nikon D750).

Is it faulty or am I not meant to choose any other numbers? I'm assuming they relate to aperture somehow.

The lens is working correctly - you need to set it to f32 and use the camera to control the aperture. If you wish to use the aperture ring (the one you describe with the numbers on) you need to change a setting in the camera. I'd suggest setting it to f/32 and using the camera :)

Cracking lens though, loved mine.

Pretty much all Nikon fit non-'G' (gelded - no aperture ring) lenses are like that. On my mechanical, manual focus Nikon lenses, I have to use that ring to control aperture.

I just wanted to add...

Remember this and if you see the error message again.... don't panic, remember and set to f32.

I once had complete brain fade when I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get my camera (35mm Nikon SLR) to work at an event I was shooting.

I did feel a fool when my brain started working again :D

I have the lens and agree with above it's excellent......... To add to the above, providing you haven't changed the front wheel command, you need to use the front wheel to alter the aperture when using the camera in AF mode and aperture ring set at f32.

There should be a little locking switch on the side of the lens by the aperture ring that locks the ring at 32 so it can't be inadvertently knocked causing the camera to go fEE. This is the case on my AT-X pro D version, I'm not 100% sure if there is a version without this feature.
