I would image that u would have a good idea that sticking yourself in that position would be a little iffy.
 
Looked like quite a safe spot to me, that's a whole lotta concrete for stuff to bounce off.

I bet he **** himself when he saw how close it was on this footage though!
 
why oh why do poeple insist on being on the wrong side of a bend, you see loads of spectators etc dicing with death, as for safe, another 6 inches and the roof would have taken his head off.

Thankfully remote cameras are now in use more
 
Seen this before, never gets old though. I love how he casually takes a photo just after like it was nothing :D
 
I've seen this before, and I'm convinced this was yet another car that day that did a similar thing. The togger and the people in the background start moving out of the way before the car veers off course. My guess is that it had happened before after the jump and it was pretty much expected.

Nevertheless still pretty brave hanging around, and props to the togger for being completely unfazed by the near miss.

It's normal for people at rally events to step back as the cars approach, they step forward between cars to see up the road then back off again when the car gets closer.

For an extreme example of this see 0:34 onwards in this video. I've seen footage of worse but I had this one saved on YouTube for easy access.
