Today's annoying driver!

You mean the bloke diving across from totally the wrong lane on the roundabout?

Ooops is that not the one, did I miss something ?

For me todays annoying drivers come in plural, after a couple of weeks of lovely weather todays has been wet, and as per normal
people seem to have forgotten how to switch on their headlights :banghead:

You ddon't have to switch on your lights just because it's raining. It's raining here right now and there is no need for lights. If it's dark enough for lights, mine will come on automatically.

Possibly, but if visibility isn't that good then surely it's safe practise to switch them on ?
I'd rather been seen then take the risk, plus you have to remeber, vans only have side mirrors and these get
very spotted with the rain, ok so if I pull out because my vision in the mirror is impaired, it's my fault but isn't prevention better then cure

I solved that problem by leaving my headlights on all the time whilst driving.

My current car is bright red and has daytime running lights and people still pull out on me in the dry, even when they can see I am approaching at speed. The fact I could have my headlights on is unlikely to make any difference to some. If your door mirrors are spotted with rain and your only means of rearward vision. It is your responsibility as the driver to ensure they are clear before you set off. They are unlikely to get spotted with rain again once you are on the move.

My van is bright red and headlights on, sadly I do stop and start every few minutes so spotting is inevitable, wiping them every time really isn't practical
just have to be extra careful, but people using their lights when visibility is impaired would help, but it seems even thick fog isn't a reason round here:(
I love the newer cars with running lights (y)

Oh no?
Why do you think that ( most) lorry's now have heated mirrors. Before we had to make do with a piece of rag tied to the arm in the hope that the wind pushed it across the mirror to keep it clear.

I can't see anything wrong with anyones line crossing the roundabout in my vid?

As for headlights, if you don't have drls switch them on in the rain, it won't hurt and might save you.

It does surprise me the number of people who do not use lights when the visibility is reduced. Have they never driven and seen a car, without lights, appear out of the gloom?

It is probably because I am a fully paid up old fart but there seem to be more drivers that are anywhere from pretty poor to dreadful. I think there is a need for a law change that requires every new car to have forward and rear cameras.

Ah but the mentality there is "I can see" that's all that matters

And as another old fart, we can complain about more camera's spying on our every move :D

Not a driver per se, but a road user of sorts, I driving down a local road, a straight road, nothing in front of me and a couple of cars behind.
300 yards in front I could see a lolly pop lady, and a couple of kids waiting at the road side to be escorted across, she could have easily walked the kids across the road at this point,
and probably not even interfered with the flow of traffic.
as I drew nearer and nearer I thought, OK she's seen the small convoy, and waiting for it to pass, how considerate... But no!
She waited until we were within a few yards and stepped off the kerb waving her magic wand!

I think that was a wee dig at you, Hugh, because the video appears to show you going straight ahead.

The roundabout direction sign however shows you were in the correct lane.

Yup, the video driver was in the correct lane until he/she was past the first exit, at which point he/she should have been in the left lane to exit at the second exit. Instead, he/she stays on the "racing" line then dives across the left hand lane up the exit.

FWIW, there was supposed to be a :P after my earlier post rather than it being a dig. ;)

:agree:

Ah! In which case [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER]! There was no traffic from my left after I'd entered the roundabout and nothing behind me for a few hundred yards so the phrase "drive the road" as taught by ra polis enters play. Not to mention changing lanes in the middle of that roundabout is kind of pointless.

I should mention that drive the road is an official term, if there's no traffic and you have good vision then you're free to use which ever lane gets you where you're going the easiest and that includes the oncoming lane.

Who is "ra polis" ?

Ra Polis??? it's the Scottish Police Force!

There's bin a murrdurr!
