...the 62nd birthday of probably one of the greatest showmen we are ever likely to see in our lifetime:notworthy: I will be raising a glass tonight to the one and only Freddie Mercury:beer:

Back in the 70s some mates of mine went to London on their motorbikes, on the way back at about 2am they stopped at Watford gap services, there was a white Rolls Royce in the car park.

They went into the cafe and there sat Freddy Mercury, they went up to ask for an autograph, and he spoke to them, **** off lads not now

62 years Old , I remember seeing Queen in the late seventies at wembley arena for £5 including coach from Hemel Hempstead :'(

He was a legend and one of the greatest showman and part of the greatest band to grace this land. I cnat think of anyone who dislikes a queen song.

This one is for you, Freddie:

They were bloody dreadful.................IMO...............

Queen were vastly over rated, as was Mercury............again, just my opinion.

Queen were one of the most succesfull POP bands ever.

Do I like Queen ? I hate to admit it, but yes.

Will I miss Freddie Mercury ? No.

Right time, right place ? most certainly,

good musicians ? Nope.

Hey, everyone is entitled to there opionion

Lets not get in a arguement and just let this thread flow :)

You can only tell if someone is a good musician if you're a musician yourself

The simple fact is that the members of Queen are ('were' in Freddy's case) very talented musicians

Whether you like or dislike their music is a different matter, and yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion :)

He was a true showman. I went to see them at Wembley Stadium in 1986 and it was truly an awesome experience. The man could hold an audience of over 70,000 in the palm of his hand.

Happy Birthday Freddie!

a good friend of mine was at the Knebworth gig a day or two later :D but unfortunatley, I never got to see them live :( Brian May at Brixton in the early 90s was fantastic though, and seeing them with Paul Rogers in Hyde Park a couple of years ago was absolutely amazing, though of course not a patch without the late great Freddie. Seeing them again at the O2 soon too - can't wait :woot:

Happy (beleted) birthday Freddie - still missing you

I saw Queen (one of the best) at Wembley Stadium in 86 too. Brilliant Concert. The Alarm, Status Quo, and INXS playing support too.

I watched some of Quadraphenia last night too. Does anybody know what year that was supposed to have taken place. Only there was a Pelican Crossing in the fight scene at Brighton. These weren't introduced until 1969. I'm sure the film was set earlier.
