HI

Got my new camera (550d) with 18- 55 ef is lens and brought a Tamron 70-300mm f4/5.6 DI LD Macro (Canon AF) from jessops but wondered would the new Canon EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS II Zoom Lens be a better buy or should i stick with what i've got for now. I like the idea of image stabilizer but is it worth having?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

From the amount of excellent reviews I hear of it I'd say it's an amazing lens!

It's apparently sharp as hell and quite speedy in terms of focussing. If you go to Flickr and search for the lens you'll see some of the amazing results achieved from it :)

It's okay. It is pretty fast, and it's also quite light, which is nice. But I wouldn't say it's "sharp as hell" :P

Thanks for the replys brought the new Canon lens today. Will be looking forward to using in the next couple of days.

Its a cracking lens if the lights good, in bad light it produces good images but in lower hit rate.
