Just spoken to a friends of mine :(

On Saturday the went out for the evening with friends leaving their lovely GSD at home. only gone for about 3 hours.
During that time some lowlifes broke in via the back door and trashed the house stealing loads of jewellery, much of which
was family heirlooms and irreplaceable.

But far worse, on entry as the dog went to greet them they threw bleach in her face :( which may result
in loss of sight in one eye and bad damage to her gums, poor dog is extremely traumatised.
She is a friendly young girl, one wonders what would have happened if she had attacked them :(
Just hope she makes a full recovery

b*****d scum. The end.

That is awful :( :( poor mite, keep us updated and I hope she's ok..

That's disgusting :(

Poor dog - I do hope she recovers.

It's bad enough losing your belongings like that but injuring a poor dog like that - it's really inhuman. I do hope they get caught - but sadly they will probably only get a slap on the wrist when/if it gets to court

Takes a real fully paid up window licking w****r to do something like that to animal.
There's no hope for some people.

I do have a question though, and don't take this the wrong way, but how do you know she was only going to greet them. Don't get me wrong, its bad and the ar**holes shouldn't have been there.

I don't care what she was doing....throwing bleach in her face is barbaric and premeditated.

I understand what you are saying Mike,
I can't see them looking around for a bleach product once inside,
so they definitely must have gone "armed" knowing there was a dog inside.
It was a premeditated and disgusting act.

Oh I completely agree. I just wondered. Even if she did go for them good on her.

Utter scum, makes my blood boil.

Speedy recovery GSD xx

I've known her since she was a pup, and once sent my daughter who didn't live at home and had never met her to collect her for me,
she let them in without a murmer, just made a big fuss.
As Chris has said, they obviously knew she was there and came prepared, I do wonder what other protection they were carrying "just in case"

Seems that another crime has led to some of the silverware being recovered so hopefully they have caught the (sorry can't type what I am thinking)

Thanks all, I'll keep you informed

Some good news at least but hardly solace for her or her owners :(

Bleach enema sounds like a good start for the thieving b#st#rds.

(BTW, Ingrid, you can type whatever you want and let the swear filter sort it out. A quick edit may be needed should something slip past it but if you're quick, nobody gets too offended! Surprised it didn't pick up the b word above, I'm sure it used to!)

Presumably, if the case ever gets to court, the animal maiming scumballs will be banned from ever owning a pet?

That's awful hopefully when they are caught they get done for animal cruelty too

Disgusting and hope the poor pooch makes a full recovery and the low life scum get royally shafted. I have to ask, what has "To all the dog haters out there" got to do with what happened?

Sick Bars....!
Like many would love 10 minutes with with these lowlife scum.

Hopefully she make a full recovery and your friends jewellery recovered.

This, and had the owner been inside, this is what would have happened to them. No doubt they'd have a nasty blade, weapons.

Complete f***ers.........I hope that they.......sorry can't think of words that are acceptable to print here.....

In the hope that they come and read what the decent folk of TP think of people that hurt animals.

It's nice to know so many caring people :)

truly awful :(

when we were broken into last year the one thing i was most relieved about was that the dog had slept upstairs with us that night (he usually sleeps in the kitchen, but had hurt his paw and was with us so we could make sure he didn't chew it all night!)

the thought of him getting hurt, or even just let outside to roam is far worse than any material loss could have been.

So sorry for the poor dog and it's owners, hopefully a full and speedy recovery will be something you can post about soon

give me 10 mins and a bat in the same locked room as them.. despicable, however I am sure will result in a slapped wrist and a conditional sentence if that.. bar stewards.

Disgusting scum . . . any other words that I have for them would probably get me de-modded.

Just what the hell is wrong with some people?
The theft itself is bad enough, but to go in there with the intent of deliberately causing harm and suffering to an animal or person.

I really hope that she makes a full recovery and that they catch those responsible.

I agree with what Sharky asked....I don't particularly like dogs but I wouldn't wish to hurt one.

Poor pooch, hope she makes a full recovery :(

Bastards! They will get caught, and get a lenient sentence no doubt.
I'd want to find them and squirt bleach in their eyes

We've had 2 gsd girls in the last 20yrs and still miss them greatly. To think anybody could do this to any animal is utterly despicable.

I'd love to get my hands on scum like that, even more so with experiencing this myself.

This is my old collie, Shep after a break in to my own home three years ago. The two knobs whacked him causing two breakages in his back leg. He was only sat at the back door wagging his tail at them before they burst in, he was the biggest softy ever. Took him to the vets that night after sorting the police and everything else out. They started operating on him not long after and he came out to their recovery kennels like a robot dog. They said his leg was more metal than anything else.

Several weeks later the breakages still weren't healing, so we left him a little longer in case he was trying to fight an infection but it ended up we had to get the whole leg amputated. He was fine getting it amputated but then he started to feel really down, wouldn't eat, drink, go near anybody. It was like shock had kicked in. After weeks of vet visits after the amputation to try and help him, he just got himself in a state that wasn't worth it. Myself and the vets decided that the time had come to put him to sleep. Still miss him to this day.

Luckily I got hold of one lad that night because I watched it all happen. They were distracted by Shep at the time of me getting one of them, but the other got away and still can't be found. Even after the state the lad was in when the police came I still don't feel like I got my revenge. He ended up with a few broken ribs, broken nose, fractured arm and he was still unconscious when the police arrived. I can't remember what he got in court, but I ended up getting my money back for all the vet visits and he got charged with killing Shep due to his injuries as well, I can't remember the exact charges he got.

This was Shep just after the op with his nearly metal back leg.

Then this was him after the amputation. That's all he did, lay down sulking. I had to carry him everywhere.

Edit, forgot to mention he was only 5years old.

Will you stop with the bleeding heart "They'll get a light sentence' routine. It's tedious and utterly without foundation.
Hurt a human and yes, you get a slap on the wrist. Hurt an animal? You are in deep poo. Courts hammer any animal cruelty and neglect defendants, so worry your pretty little heads not.

@CaveDweller , Paul that is so sad, poor Shep paid a heavy price at such a young age for someone else's mindless greed.
It's just mindless violence for the sake of it my heart goes out to you at your tragic loss

Bernie please don't turn this into another mindless right and wrongs of the police debate, this is about the suffering of the animals and the pain the owners feel.
If you want that debate please take it to a new thread

Would appreciate it if no one answers Bernie on this thread, ok so not my dog but I've knownand looked after her all her
life so feeling pretty upset at the moment
If mods want to delete both mine and his post please do

If they get caught, they won't spend the rest of their lives suffering as the dog will, so in my book that is lenient.

Granted Bob, but the days of throwing away the keys, no matter how well deserved are gone. The only consolation is that for similar offences animal v human, those that harm animals will get a heavier sentence.

I'll have to try and find out what my dogs attackers got. I know one of the blokes got charged with killing him, but that wasn't at the same time as the original charges because he didn't die from the injuries at till a good time after. Although Shep was put to sleep, the attacker still got charged.

Who prosecuted the CPS or RSPCA?
The RSPCA tend to go for broke more often, and usually win.
