So many threads like this, so sorry for another n00b posting another, but I'm hoping to get your opinions specific to me! :)

I currently have a 400D, great starter camera, and have produced some shots I'm happy with, not pro standard, but good for a keen amature (I hope anyway ) but I wish to develop further!

I took shot shots at a gig last night, and had to ramp up the ISO big time at points, now would the ISO performance be a lot better on a semi-pro camera? Asuming the focusing would be quicker too?

Am mulling it over now, before my camera is worth too little to sell on, and before any more price rises?! I've come to realise it's more than just a camera to me now, it's a hobby, and hopefully if my skill level keeps improving it could lead further one day! (well I can dream right!! lol)

Any thoughts? Should I bite the bullet?

I've had a few glasses of wine, so apologies for any rambling! lol

Dave.

I changed from a 400d to a 50d in January and havnt regretted it one bit! the down side is wanting more lenses to get the best from it. But as most people will tell you upgrading your lenses will help you more than a new body.

Thanks Euan, I have a nifty fifty and a 24-105L at the moment, so can either take low light shots, or sharp stuff in the day time :)

The 24-105l is on my list to get as well as a 100-400l. Still love the 50d though!

I have just moved from the 400D to the 50D & i love it.:)

I had a 400D and bought a 50D last week, not had chance to use it much but I did take some at ISO 1600. Compared to the 400D the pictures are pretty clean. I've also noticed focusing is quicker with the Tamron 17-50 attached.

I'll be trying it out properly this Sunday.

My fiancee is pooping her pants reading this thread!

Keep them coming! (negatives welcome too!)

I think you should buy Nikon whilst you still can, before you do a pile of dosh on Canon gear...the best low lighters are Nikon body's..

That should even things up, two pairs of pooped pants.....:D

 No fear there bud!

Better the devil you know! ;)

I've just got a 50D to replace my 6 week old 450D... it just feels so much better. At ISO 12800 (H2), the amount of noise has to be seen to be believed, but then Noiseninja gets rid of it so well! At ISO 1600, the results are better than the 450D at 400 (IMO).

Get the 50D, and some fresh pants for your Fiancee.

i have moved from the 400D to a 50D, lenses that i thought were sharp on the 400d seem not so compared to recent purchases which really do the 50D justice!

the only thing that i liked on the XXXD bodies over any other is where the power switch is. since the body iws that bit bigger using it in portrait takres getting used to again but i am getting a grip for mine as portrait orientation makes up a good portion of how i shoot.

50D purchased yesterday! :D

Very happy with it so far, but not had a proper chance to play with it yet!!

Totally agree its the dogs b.........:):D:lol:
