TMP file lost doc

I was working on a important word doc, got very tired so I decided to stop and make a back up copy, but in my great wisdom I copied the old version of this doc over the new one !!!! result all the work done yesterday is lost. Using "undelete 360" I have been able to recover the last tmp file prior to my error but I am unable to open it and I doubt that it is possible unless some magicien knows a trick !!!
I use windows10, office 2007
Any suggestions welcome

when you say temp file, do you mean the autosave file? because those should just open straight up.

You might be able to use the previous versions feature to recover the file you have saved over.

I have a few issues there, firstly this happened yesterday but i did not realise until this morning and the pc was turned off overnight, also I was working off my flash drive.
Finally I cannot open the temp folder in C, I have tried to change the permission setting without luck, but checking the properties there is no data there.

Autosaves are not in the c:\temp folder. They'll be in your user folder appdata i think (might want to Google)

I have tried but nothing seems to be working, I found the file in the appdata and opened it but it is gobbledygook, I will have another go later on
I need to calm down first !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
