Tmax 100 vs/or Acros

I've tried Acros. I love it. But, I have nothing to compare it to.

Now I trust you guys, so let's have it. How do you feel about tmax100?

Better? Worse? Indifferent?
 
For me Acros wins every time, but I cant get it in 5x4!!

A mixture depending on what I want, Delta100, Fomapan 100, Adox 25. Or because grain is not an issue TXP320.

Acros... I found T-Max 100 to be a little uninspiring compared to acros, havent got any acros online but i have a T-Max here

I found Tmax a bit flat in tone, but then I never realy pressed the case by trying different development etc. Acros just works and I wish I could get some in LFm, that and some Pan50 would be nice :D

That's another film I'm VERY tempted to try, panF. I've got some acros in the fridge and I'm gonna shoot some of it at 64iso, would be nice to see how it compares with panF at 50
 
Yeah i found Tmax a bit flat, PanF is a sexy film, very nice fine grain and gives good contrast with a yellow filter and when devved in rodinal
 
Its never a waste, try it, if you dont like try somthing else. Its far easier for me now as I shoot 4 sheets of whatever and then dev, shoot another 4 and try a different dev.
I'm settling on some films and dev and now playing with times.

I'll give it a whirl for my next studio session I think.

I'll keep acros as my go to slow/medium film then, sounds like it's bang on anyways. I'm liking trix for practically everything else :D
 
Hmmm, actually. I'd neglected FP4. I've already tried Delta 100, prefered Acros, but FP4 I've yet to use. Thoughts amigos?
 
I've always preferred HP5 to FP4. Might just be for its pushing ability though, I like my films fast :D
 
Danny - buy a roll and try it, and judge for yourself. Opinions from people on the internet can turn out to be entirely useless (no offence guys!). For instance I find Acros quite uninspiring to shoot, but you'd naturally disagree. Film choices are subjective and since we have such a wide range of emulsions still available, take advantage and find out for yourself! :)

Get your point fella. But at the moment I'm standardising my processing so concentrating on tri-x, and d-76 and just getting to know my equipment, camera, meter and darkroom wise. These additional films are just to play with on top of that, and with so many films available, if I was to just buy and try every type, with combinations of different developers, different devs times, dev techniques, filters, etc I'd end up skint every month devving xxx's of films, lol. I'm happy to get a few to try, but at the same time I don't want to waste my time :thumbs:

Indeed, I absolutely agree. But I mean there's no need, literally just shoot one roll extra (I'm not too worried about all those endless combinations of developers, developer concentrations and emulsions that people seem to spend years sorting out).

I had the same thing with T-Max 400 - very happy with it, always have been, but I wanted to see what the fuss with Tri-X was. Shot one roll, dev'd it in my normal soup and I was happy with the results, but there was nothing to tempt me away from my normal T-Max. But it was satisfying to know that I had ensured I wasn't missing out with other emulsions (which is essentially what you want to know).
