Hiya folkies.

Righty, managed to get my new look web site up and running.

It can be found at http://www.ajbphotos.co.uk

Not without mistakes I know - don't like the bit whereby landscape photos go out of the box - but not too concerned.

My question is ... as you will see, I have made my albums using web gallery builder, which has created some .css scripts. Will i then be able to add new albums editing this script, or is it a case of having to upload all new files everytime? You will notice that all albums link to other albums - so I'm wondering how I would change this to add more.

Not too hot on html codes and scripts, etc - so simple answers very much appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Anth.

The photos load in fast when clicking on the thumbnails, no problem there, I also like the colour scheme. The layout I can see where you were going but I think you would have been better if you could maybe use tables, it would keep everything centred and in it's place, Perhaps it's the frames that making the large photo overlap the border.
Also the bigger pic looks like it's over to the right, on my monitor I see the whole photo, I can't speak for anyone with a smaller monitor.

Theres another web album generator I found very easy to use and if you could put yours together as you did Web Album generator would be a peice of cake to you, it takes care of all the html for you , you just tell it where the photos are. Best part is the software is freeware.http://www.ornj.net/webalbum/

I built my sisters website and you can see it in action here http://villalinakis.com/images/gallery/arillas/index.html

A little thing maybe, but I don't like websites with email only contact ~ I would certainly never buy from such a website (nothing personal old chap). Could you put your mobile number on there at least?

Thanks for the comments.

I was thinking about sticking my mobile number on - but then thought I'd get loads of dodgy calls!!! Although that said, I do have an old PAYG card somehwre, so i might get that sorted.

Normally I give my mobile (and home) number to people after initial email contact - but I do take your point about it appearing as an online only service!

Back to my other question ....

I have since realised that the index of albums is in a table. This table appears on EVERY page - as all the albums are interlinked. If I wanted to add new albums, hopw would I do it? With web gallery builder, it would mean having to upload all the images again (i think) - especially I inserted albums in new alphabetical order. Is there a way I could simply update that table on one page and have it apply to all ?

Cheers again in advance!!!

Sorry, let me rephrase the above as it's not that clear!!

On my website, the site consists of many many html pages. (Each large image has it's own page - so there's about 500 pages). These pages were made using web gallery builder software.

As it stands, the albums and images I have uploaded are all interlinked by the software. That is, when you view one album e.g. New York - a little table appears to link you to all the other albums - regardless of what image you are viewing,

So my question is ... in the future, if I take more photos and add them to my website, how do i get them to be included in this little table?

As the page is automatically made by web gallery builder, the table is built in when I get it to make the pages. Obviously with new images, I will not need to redo the pages I already have, so how would I add new ones?

A problem I see is if I added a gallery between 2 other ones - this would then knock the numbers out of sync (as the pages are labelled image2_1.html, image2_2.html and so on.

Therefore to add new pages, I would have to remake (and painstakingly reupload) the WHOLE thing!

That is of course, unless any of you lot understand me and can help me!!!!

Web design is not my thing! Can you tell ?

Also, FYI, as well as the htm files, I have 2 .css files - although neither of these mention the table that has the index of albums!!!

Thanks again for your help ....

I am in the process of developing a web site to store my own photo's. It's going to be an amatuer photographers blog style site, but hopefully with a pro design.

Photo sites I feel should have very little detail to avoid taking the attention away from the snaps! I think black is slick.

I like your site, but I would still tone the header and link colours down to make the images jump out.

Mines is completely work in progress, no header yet for example:

If you are close to Edinburgh, I can spend a few hours going over some cool tricks to save a tonne of time when updating sites. Very easy to develop a web app which will just "grow" when you upload a photo for example.

Hiya Gary - thanks for the offer .... unfortunately I am either in Cheshire, or Newacstle!

I used to use pixelpost for my website - which was easily updated and easy to use. However, after losing my password and not being able to update, I deleted that and started this one. May return to pixelpost (under a new account!) if I cannot figure out how to update this site - although I do feel it'll be a very simple thing to do once I realise how!

Cheers again. If you're ever near Altrincham and fancy a free pint in return for some website advice ......
