Tips for job interview! If you work for the NHS please look...

I quickly googled "nhs recruitment policy body piercing".

There are a few policies from various NHS trusts. One hit refers specifically to recruitment, others contain reference to dress code policies, etc.

Probably best if you read them yourself.

Personally couldn't give a flying fig about how people look - I'd rather employ someone who's committed and hard working rather than someone who looks the part.

At interview I got told I would have to take out all my piercings and keep them out. no jewellery no perfume no make up either

That's harsh! I've worked in NHS, as has my mother and my daughter stil does (all differing areas) and nowhere other than theatre nurses and the like had such sever restrictions and certainly never admin.

Doesn't sound like the sort of place you'd want to work :shake: No makeup?? Some dragons I've seen need makeup to look human :naughty:

ah its the way the pc world is going........... you might get someone yuo is a little hypoallergenic or find's chanel no 5 most nauseating.................

Were the people on the interview panel wearing makeup?

One of them wasn't, some of the people I saw had earrings in etc. and make up on. I would be working putting together medicines so its more clinical based than I thought but still. Lol.

Sit back and relax - you've done what you can and you can't go back and change anything.

Fingers crossed that you get the outcome you want (you don't sound totally convinced that it was right for you)
And if you don't get the job and they offer you the opportunity make sure that you get some feedback on the interview from them. Always useful to learn from for next time.

Hmm I'm not totally sure myself. the job was absolutely fine but the environment I wouldnt fit into as well. Can't put on my finger on why... Just a sixth sense.

Well. I've decided after constantly thinking since I had the interview that I just wouldn't fit in. I mean the job is great opportunity but I just had a bad feeling about it, and have since. I don't have a clue as to weather I got it or not, will find out week after next. So depressing. Meh. So confusing.

What's the job?
One way to look at it, accept...if you don't like it leave.
At least that way you've tried it, got some £ your way, but most importantly ... interview experience :)

Its more difficult than that. I have to sign a learning contract when (if) I sign the working contract because its got qualifications NVQs to be exact with n the job training. If I leave I then have to pay the full course fees. It is a hospital pharmacy position

Ohhhhhhhhh gotcha. How long would they tie you in for?

Couple of years because its a rotational position which means I'd be moving amongst a lot of departments. 6 months per dept. Roughly 4 different depts.

I'd say go for it still you might not like all placements, but NVQ and 2 years experience is very tempting

Oh quite, I can't deny that it is a great opportunity. And I'd be immensly stupid not to take it if I were offered it. Just a gut feeling is making me think otherwise. Can't work out what it is about it.

did you get the job squizza ?

Haven't heard yet and its been over 2 weeks since interview :shake: I got told I would hear by phonecall on Wednesday.

Phone them and ask. I'd also ask for feedback, if they can't do it then arrange a time when you can call them or they can call you to go over the interview questions and feed back to you.

Well done for applying and going to the interview whatever the outcome as I had an interview recently and was so nervous I nearly phoned and cancelled.

And sitting in the Jobcentre on a temporary contract, and advising people every day I'd say grab any employment opportunity which is of 2 years' minimum duration. And provides certificated training.

Your last few posts may just be you preparing for an "unsuccesful" letter or that may be how you truly feel but if you get the job offer PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't turn it down. You really don't know when the next one might come along.

Fingers crossed Squizza

They just phoned and apoligsed for the wait. I didn't get the job. Lol. Not really sure how I feel. Definitely not disappointed.

Sorry to hear that , their loss I'm sure :)

Did you ask them for feedback ?

Did you ask them for feedback ?

No because I am a numpty :bang: but she seemed very rushed and didn't want to stay on the phone so I'll call back tomorrow and ask. I should have just asked but she was off the phone pretty quick!

Consider it as experience and don't worry about it. Sounds like you didn't want it anyway after the interview.

You will get there in the long run

You're ready to move on now.
Make a list of the + and - points of your application and interview and be honest with yourself about how you can do better next time.
Once you've got your self-assessment list, phone them and ask for i/v feedback: the chances are the person you phone will be an HR person and the views you're most interested in are those of the decision maker. See if they tell you anything new.
