Hi All

I've got a Canon IP4700 and although it produces great photo prints I get these tiny little rows of dots/impressions in the image. They are very feint and you have to tilt the image into the light but they and definitely there to see and they annoy the living daylights out of me! I've tried three different papers and they all have the same result.

Is this where the printer holds the print for borderless printing?

It's not a dirty/faulty print head is it? where are the marks all over or at the edges?.

I beleive it is the pinch wheels or whatever they are called i get them on both the IP4000 & IP1800

I believe they are from the "pizza wheels" that drive the paper through the printer.
Had the same problem with an epson printer years ago, and with my current canon ip4600.
I know exactly how you feel, once you know they are there, thats it, bugs the life out of you. I spent ages on tinternet trying to sort it out, never really got that far to be honest and ended up trying different papers.

Best one I have found is Tesco own brand A4 Glossy 190gsm, no tram lines, good colour, and cheap as chips, I have had it when on offer at less than £5.00 for 50 sheets (did get a few at that price).

Hope this helps,

Dave ....

Thanks guys, I feared it was the mechanism that "held" the paper.
I've tried the Tesco paper which isn't too bad but I can still see the tram lines.

Guess I'll just have to live with it, but I don't like it :(

Barney - see my thread of 16/12......... with Tesco Paper........

http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=186888

For info, with Staples, HP, Canon and Staples Satin, I am not getting those wheel marks.......... just was with Tessy's....

Hope it helps.

Thanks Lynton

guess who bought 15 packs of the Tesco paper when it was half price a few weeks back :bang:

Having said that I get the same results on the Verbatim 6x4 paper I got from 7dayshop.

Will try the papers you recommend from the thread.

It may be too radical for you, but I heard of some paranoid chap/ettes who were filing a few teeth off the pizza wheel to eliminate a few tramlines. :D
