Hi all, I thought I'd say a quick goodbye to the Fusty and Crusty section for a while. After meeting Moomike last week (very nice guy, good to meet you!), I was cruelly separated from my entire film/developing/scanning kit :0(

Well, actually, Mike did a swap for cold hard cash as we've just booked a family holiday to Florida next year so needs must and the cash will see more use for now :0)

The difficulty now is that I still pop in here out of habit and since I sold my kit, there seems to have been a sudden increase in excellent medium format shots which are drawing me back in!

Whilst I don't think I'll be away from film forever, I'll be sticking to digital for the time being.

To everyone else, keep shooting :0)

Cheers
Steve

You'll be back.... Hotel California, you can check out but you can never leave. I'll get Roberts to put your things in storage until you return.

Have a good holiday.(y)

Cheers Andy. I've just caught myself adding Yashica Mats to my watch list on eBay so you may be right (although I'll probably be divorced as well if that's the case!)

You'll be missed in the f&c section Steve but as Andy says, you'll be back and you'll still be welcome on the film meets even if you are carrying one of them there new-fangled digital things.

Thanks Nick, that means a lot. I'm sure I'll be back in one way or another some point in the future although I'm not sure I could devalue an F&C meet with some of that digital voodoo ;0)

Cheers
Steve

And don't forget Steve we're still expecting great things from your lightbox photo frame

Fair point Joxby, it just felt a bit like goodbye after moving all my kit on. I'm sure I'll still post though ;0)

Don't worry Nick, I'll keep it going. I'm currently testing some LiPo batteries for their long term efficiency so will keep my thread updated.

Cheers
Steve

I know, I feels like you don't shoot it and thus you have nothing to contribute, but its not that simple, Stoptober is a fags and booze thing, won't work on fixer.
I haven't shot nothin since August, Hooley's snapped his slender girl shutter release finger off digging in a nostril, I dunno who's but its not covered by the insurance anyway, Yinney's got bikers crouch and can only shoot his feet, and freecom uses a T70 recovered in pink sparkley leatherette by Ambermille, which looks terrific but doesn't actually work, all valid reasons not to be currently shooting stuff 24-7, it doesn't stop them posting and being a part of F&C.

Just come and flap lips, s'what everybody else does..:)

What he said (I think!)

Well there is always a place to use a 35mm film camera and is where you would be frightened to take a very expensive digi......a few years ago was walking on the hard sand near the water and the beach was full of people soaking up the sun (h'mm plenty of topless girls but daren't take a shot of them ;)) and people throwing balls around, when this idiot threw a ball from the sea and covered me and the camera in salt water....lucky it was just an OM10 camera and was wearing a shirt as I manage to wipe the water off the lens and camera.

I didn't know Olympus made shirts to fit the OM-10, that was lucky. :D

Thanks Joxby (and everyone else). I guess I should have worded the thread title more like, "Goodbye to my Mamiya kit and home developing" seeing as I've got such poor willpower!

Good point about still spending most of my time in this section and I'm always happy to give and receive advice wherever it's useful. The only reason for moving on my kit was for the deposit on what will be an amazing holiday for my family next year. I realised that cameras (film and digital) are just 'stuff' that I enjoy using but seeing my kids' faces when we arrive at Disney will be awesome. Also, selling on kit always helps in the negotiation stages of any new purchases in the future...

Thanks for everyone's posts and thoughts, this is still the best section on any forum :0)

Cheers
Steve
