I`d love to have a bash at some time lapse photography. I`ve seen special cameras on sale for about £140, I think they were calling then "trail" cameras. I can`t buy anything just now but before I do, is there a better way of doing things? Like maybe programming a webcam to take a shot every X hours or minutes? It`s definatly something I`d like to do so any information you can offer will be very useful :) Cheers! :)

If you have a Canon, the EOS utility can work as an intervalometer whereby you can specify a number (or infinite) number of shots and a time between each which is exactly what you want. Thing I found is that the cameras battery died after about 300 images - at one per minute I got about 5 hours footage. If you need longer, weorth considering alternative power (eg AC powerpack.)

Oooooh I didn`t think of that! Nice!! I`ve got everything I need then :) I just need to address the power issue :) I suppose you`d guess the time between shots until you get it right would you? Oh I`m all excited now! Cheers

This thread inspired mre to have a go myself. Something completely different to what I normally do. It was only a trial to see how everything worked. I used a 40D tethered to laptop and used EOS utility.

Sweet :) I kept expecting the words "The Simpsons" to appear... lol As soon as I figure out how I`m going to power my camera for longer periods I`ll be having a bash myself :)
