A friend of mine contacted me with advice on quite a tall order.
I must admit, I'm completely stumped on how to go about this?

He is wanting to put a DSLR in place on a building site, and take a time lapse image every 10 minutes during the day (not night) over a period of a year.

It also needs the facility to monitor the camera remotely (3G?), and a ability to automatically upload the images from the camera to a server.

Solar Panels? to maintain battery supply?

Waterproof housing?

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated?

Does it need to be DSLR quality? If not you'd be better off getting some sort of IP camera connected to something with an internet connection (router + 3g dongle)... especially if its being left somewhere 'unsecure'

Check out On1 software as they do a good remote shooting solution.

And if you use Canon, I think canon utilities has a package but not sure how flexible it is.

Site-Eye looks rather impressive. I guess it depends on budget also

:thumbs:Thanks for all the responses folks, I'll pass them onto my mate

Not a clue how to help Les, but sounds very interesting project

Would love to see the results ...
