Yes
I have been undecided about when to take the plunge and upgrade my 20D but my mind has just been made up.

I have been given a "commission" to get aerial shots to overlay the new World Cup courses at Fort William on for the UCI. If I get what they want I get free tickets and a press pass. The weather tomorrow looks spot on for such a trip.

And Ffordes have a S/H 5D just in :woot: so I am off to have a look at it.

Hopefully get it for a decent price :bat:

Wish me luck!!!

Good luck, a fantastic camera - really want one myself but soo expensive :'(

I have a BNIB one for £1350 direct from Canon and you can claim the cashback too before 15/11/06:) You interested?

Regards,
Steve.

Great news on the commisssion! Well deserved!

OK got it!

I paid £1350 and it includes a pair of batteries a 1GB card and a Kirk plate (whatever the **** that is!).
Looks like just under 3,000 actuations - seller has upgraded to Leica Rangefinder which he gets tomorrow.

Looks quite dandy so far except Steve's great offer which if I had the time would be a better deal - oh well!

Now that lying bitch forecaster better be right for tomorrow!

Excellent! Looking forward to the pics.

good luck with the commission

I've ridden at fort william a couple of times, it's an excellent venue and when the worlds come there's as much to snap off the trail as there is on it :)

So... £1150 after rebate??? ive got a bud who might be very interested in that... i told him about it when I saw it was £1350 and didnt expect the rebate to still work on such a low price, but for £1150... im very tempted to buy it myself... a spare spare... hmmmm...

If only my job was 100% secure im snap this up in a heartbeat... :(

These forums really should come with a financial health warning, in fact it should be printed on all equipment boxes too ;)

Congrats on the new cam :)

I'm sure you'll love the 5D, it's just an all round lovely camera to work with :)

Bloody hell, at this rate we'll have to have a 5D forum.
Congrats on the 5D, and on the down side it's going to cost you bundle on L glass.:D

Already got a bit of L glass so really needed the camera to match it.

Another bummer I have just found is that CS does not support the 5D raw files so will have to upgrade to CS2 :(

You can still use Photoshop 8 (CS) if you convert the raw files from CR2 to DNG format first.

To do this you need to download the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw and install only the DNG convertor, which is a stand-alone application so just needs copying to your hard disk somewhere.

This simply converts your raw files into Adobe's DNG format, which can then be loaded directly into Photoshop. Or of course you could use another application like DPP to process your raw files and save them to TIFF which will load into Photoshop.

These are the links to download Adobe Camera Raw for Mac or Windows:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Win

Version 2.4 was the last one supported by Photoshop 8 (CS), while 5D support was added in version 3.3 so just take the Adobe Camera Raw plugin from the 2.4 download and the DNG Convertor from the latest (3.6) download.

Michael.
