Pretty sure I haven't seen this on here yet, but it is sooo good I need to post it.

Have seen a fair few time lapse tilt shift stuff before, but this is even better! Would love to make some stuff like this myself :) Think it is on my 'to do' list now :D

Fantastic thanks for posting it has a feel of Harold the helicopter about it almost child like cartoon thing if you get me, i just love it and HAVE to know how its done :clap::clap:

Ha! Absolutely excellent. Stunning dedication from the guy to construct that.

I think it sucks. It's basically taking 2 widely overused effects and putting them together...which just makes it even worse.

Amazing thanks for the link

That was creative  ... made it all look like Thunderbird

That's brilliant. I love the way tilt & shift lenses give everything a cartoony, model-like look.

Interesting in that it feels so different to actually instil a story in to a time lapse sequence that it works quite marvelously so.

 Amazing

i thought it was team america style puppets at first, very stunning effect indeed

Trumpton 2009!

Your entitled to your view and opinion but it greatly differs from the majority here :|
whats overused effects

I'd be impressed if it really was tilt shift :)

Very impressive, thanks for sharing the link.

joxby, I don't know anything about tilt shift lenses, but what makes you think its not? I thought that was the effect they created, or could that have just been a filter applied in the software it was created in?

Superb; "widely overused effects" or not.

Well I don't know really, but its the way of the world these days.
Its unlikely to be a lensbaby, could be a TS lens, could certainly be done with a TS lens, but I think its more likely to be batch shopped time lapse, which personally is......boringly easy to do, not boringly easy is the editing of a short story in clips mind.
I just wish peeps would say its photoshopped instead of saying its Tilt Shift if it isn't.
Tilt Shift is a specific type of lens not a photoshop action.
Still entertaining though, and might be shot with TS lens...who knows...
Tilt Shift has been stolen by photoshop to describe the effect of a real TS lens.

I loved this! It was very feel-good! (I think it was the music that had that effect on me.)

I like the way the speeding up of the waves made the whole thing look a lot smaller.

My god, that was awesome! They dont look real, more like little figurines, which makes it even cooler :D

Overused effects? Tilt-shift is so overdone, the thing is the lens itself has so many purposes (such as in architectural photography), but we never see any of them becuase everyone just does the miniature people one. It's boring, seen it before too many times.

Timelapse video is pretty annoying too, it's like a long exposure of a motorway in a photo...probably one of the most overdone shots ever.

Fisheye is another. So sick of fisheye...it wasn't even that good an effect to start with but people have overused it so much, just using a fisheye for every shot they take, regardless of composition and lighting or whether the fisheye is actually contributing anything to shot instead of ruining it.

I've seen countless shots that have been ruined by tilt-shift and fisheye.

Flickr is awash with this kind of crap and everyone praises it so highly.

Make sure you get out of the correct side of the bed tomorrow.

I know what you're getting at, but you're putting too much stock in it. This is hardly a piece of high quality work, but as a sketch, its pretty cool. Not something I'd seen before, however, I just googled around a bit and found s***loads of it. Shame.

I think a lot of people on flickr seem to have a monkey see, monkey do attitude to photography, and instead of appreciating something clever or well done, try and mimic it. I think I'll stop before this turns into a full blown rant.

I got out of bed on the right side today. It's what I think....i'm not in a bad mood or anything...

iammartin - It's not really about works of art here, it's about fundamentals of photography and how little people think outside the box. Flickr just seems to be full of people posting the same old landscape shots we've seen a million times before, tilt-shift miniatures and fisheye rubbish.

And fair enough, take inspiration from other photographs becuase we all do it and it's what any good photographer should do, but instead of just copying something, a good photographer should be thinking of how they personally can do it better.

Just because something has been done before doesn't make it visually uninteresting.

I personally think that the tilt shift effect here has been used well and the shots tell a story. That's like saying, "I'm so sick of action films because they've been done before,"
This is just another type of artwork, and slagging it off because it's been done before, now THAT'S boring.
