Now the Blue Peter moment.
The above were taken with a modified Nikon PB-4 Bellows Unit. I and most other people think of bellows units only for extreme close up. I think with this mod you can focus to infinity but I have not tried it.
The bellows unit has to be the PB-4 as it is the only one that Nikon made with both tilt and shift, see the two levers at the front. The lever on the left is for shift, the other lever for tilt or swing depending if you are in landscape or portrait orientation.
What I did was to remove the bellows part which is held by 4 small screws at either end. Then removed the F mount ring on the front, again held on by 4 small screws. I also removed the lens locking button.
The lens I have used is a EL Nikkor 80mm F5.6 lens, an enlarger lens. The lens is mounted in the normal way with a stepping ring 40.5 to 58mm. The 40.5 is the front lens thread of the EL lens. To attach this ring to the back of the front lens standard I had to remove the 58mm threaded part which I filed of so it was just a flat plate. Then I drilled 4 holes and used the small screws.
To stop any stray light getting in I have used a piece of flexible plastic pipe. Ideally this should be some kind of large flexible bag attached to the front and back parts to allow for full movement in both tilt and shift, but this will do for the time being.
The results are quite interesting with plenty of scope for further improvements.
Mick.
