Tide Predictions... Can Anyone Help!

Does anyone know an online (or even better, an iphone) resource for tidal predictions in the uk. I found a couple of surfing sites, but nothing that i'd really trust. I'm basically just after high tide, and low tide times for coastal uk. Failing that, if I could get a timetable for somewhere like Whitby, does anyone know how much the times vary as you work your way around the UK coast? I dont have a clue... does it vary so that say blackpool would be the opposite of whitby because they're on opposite sides of the country? Does it work based on the direction the land faces? Does it work on a calculation using longitude and latitude?

Oh... and this isn't out of focus... it relates to seascapes :p

i got one on my iphone,goto your app store and type tide in and loads comes up, works great with me

Which one have you got? They seem to be American, which was was I was finding when I tried googling tidal iphone apps.
 
Can you not get an Almanac?

They cover different ports (different areas have different tides - and timings!).
You can also predict the speed of the tide and direction too :thumbs:

Try WWW.MAGICSEAWEED.COM. Used regulary and reliable. Its a surfing site, and a good one because you can get photos of beaches for any research you want to do plus the size of the swell.

I use TideApp from Atlantis Technology it has most the major UK Ports and it's free from the app store. Hope this helps a bit
 
Use the link above for easytide - its what everyone in the Ocean Science department at Bangor University use ;) plus its from the people who make Admiralty charts (UK Hydrographic Office) so its as good as it gets and has more ports than any other free source we know of
