Tia Sharp: police find body at home of grandmother

Detectives hunting missing 12-year-old Tia Sharp have found a body at her grandmother’s house, Scotland Yard have confirmed.

A murder inquiry has now been launched and police have said they are seeking to interview Stuart Hazel, the boyfriend of Tia’s grandmother Christine Sharp in connection with the case.

Scotland Yard have warned people not to approach Mr Hazell and have said there have been no arrests at this stage

It is tragic but we have been discussing this at home since the news broke and we (our family at least) pointed the finger at the 'granddad' straight away...I know he has not been found guilty of anything but sometimes you just have a sneaky feeling.

For all the do gooders who are against CP, read the stories about her death.

Julie said the same Tom as soon as she saw his interview

He used to go out with the girl's mother and started seeing the grandmother! What a bunch of utter chavs.

Jeremy Kyle specials the lot of them.

CP?

What I don't understand is how the police missed this on the two times they searched the house?

It's incredibly sad.

Capital punishment I pressume - and I would still rather 20 rotten arse scumbags rotted in jail until they died than 1 innocent [wo]man died in the name of 'justice' - but I do understand why many want to see it's return.

To answer your second question, they havent yet released info on where she was found, I guess they don't lift every floorboard/paving slab unless there is good evidence to suggest they should [I dunno, sniffer dogs finding something, or a good tip off, whatever it may be, I am not an avid watcher of CSI type programs]...but no doubt we will find out in the fullness of time...

It took the grandma's dog to sniff out the evidence of a body...wtf were the police dogs doing?

it is shocking that it has taken this long to find her (if it is her) but they must have their reasons.
What i find shocking is where is her Mum? and why have we not seen much of her. could be she just couldn't handle it maybe?

Very sad indeed, I am another one who had a gut feeling.

Evening Standard

A police search dog went into the house early this morning and was alerted to something which meant a full forensic search was brought forward.

After the other dog startled the rozzers.......

It is a very sad outcome, that seemed increasingly inevitable as the week passed.

But obviously what must happen now is that the next time a child goes missing, the police should immediately appeal in Talk Photography's "Out of Focus" forum for peoples' impressions and certainties!

Seriously though, it was fairly obvious to most people that Hazell was, at least, a person of interest, so I'm puzzled as to how he was able to simply slip away. Surely it would have been prudent to keep an eye on him?

I am sure the police have their own 'profilers' but they need to gather a stronger case of evidence. (some times this takes a wrong turn because of media outlets like this one. Look at the case of the Bristol girl a couple of xmas ago and the sun journo who said it must be the landlord)

I have to admit, my first action would have been to search the house from top down, had I been called to this, but to be fair there's 2 things to keep in mind. 1. I would have no right now. It was doubtful I ever did have that right, but there were ways and means.
Secondly, if the evidence against grands boyfriend wasn't there then you can't nick him. A gut feeling is no longer enough to mount a full scale surveillance on him either. But that's progress for you.
Still, it will give the IPCC some more hindsight laden reports to write, full of great ideas that contradict the last lot of great ideas they had.

Indeed, so many Internet Sherlock Holmes.

What is that supposed to mean?...we are only commenting on a news story...we are allowed to express our opinions and to be fair most of the time we are right in these case.

It means always in these cases you see a load of people posting on forums, Facebook etc saying they knew it was X person and they looked dodgy etc.

Without evidence the police can't go on things like looking dodgy, unfortunately.

But we already stated that earlier on if you bother to read the posts.....

Very very sad news; I can't help thinking what were the poor soul's last thoughts :(, how much did she suffer, how helpless she must have felt in her last moments :'(

I pray she's in a better place now.

Isn't hindsight brilliant if Plod had charged in last weekend and found b****r all the great British public including many on here would have crucified them

No I wouldn't have, I think a lot of the public would have backed them, as said earlier shame the police the police can't use gut instinct anymore.

I think that some of us watch too much TV, where pretty much all crimes are solved during a half hour programme and the guilty party admits the crime...

Our thoughts should be with the victim and her loved ones, at this stage we have no reason to be critical of the police, and no reason to assume the guilt of any individual.

Really tragic for kids to go missing and then turn up dead, but if it's a family member(s) that is involved then that's even more disturbing. Poor girl...

Most people seem to have already forgotten that this originally was a missing persons case, and teenagers do run away.

The police will have had loads of leads to look into, cctv, witness sighting etc...
Would you do a fingertip search of the whole house with it being a missing persons case?
No, probably not, search her bedroom for clues, PC & phone away for investigation...

Sad news if it is Tia... my thoughts go out to her family

Breaking News on Sky:

Police have arrested Stuart Hazell after a body was found in the search for missing schoolgirl Tia Sharp.

What the usual trolls on here need to realise is that a young girl is dead. Indulge in your usual forensic w**k fest if you must. She's still dead, and the spectacle of some on this forum playing dead girl top trumps is really unedifying.

Nobody is trolling, this is a discussion thread.

People here recently seem unable to engage in discussion, seem to want to attack people with differing views

I'm not attacking anyone, I'm expressing an opinion. If my opinion offends anyone I apologise.

Tiler....sometimes trolls don't recognise themselves.

Wow. An innocent 12 year old girl has her life taken from her and all people want to do is argue and thump their chests on an internet forum.

Sad. Very sad :shake:

I don't believe in trolls, I am a grown up.

Simmo, no one is arguing, it is a discussion where there are multi opinions, it is those that can't differentiate between the two that have a problem with this type of thread.

Simmo, I'm not chest thumping, I'm just sick of those that do, arguing/discussing? the minutiae AF a young girls death.

A young girl is dead. That sucks. Show her some respect.

Indeed, like Hazell today, the landlord was arrested on suspicion of murder

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-12092600

Time will tell how this case works out.

TBH, given the way public sentiment is liable to go, Hazell is probably safer in Police custody at the moment, whether or not it transpires he is guilty.
