Anyone been. To Thruxton?

Apparently there is superbike racing over the weekend and tomorrow is practice day so thought I may drive up and take a look.

Just wondering if it's a good place for some decent pictures?

Tia.

I went, not to Superbikes, back in 2007 and it was fun & enjoyable with decent viewpoints and angles (as far as I was concerned).

Apart from "faces" and "Lydden Hill" all the motor sport ones here were at Thruxton

If you do go, hope you have a good time and look forward to seeing the results:)

PS I surmise Superbike practice will be very busy ???

Yes, I have been a couple of times to photograph the bikes. I have pictures on my flickr page, I will post a link to them later. £5 to get in and no crowds on practice day. If you turn left after the entrance and keep waking almost as far as you can go you will get to a spot on eye level with the riders as they come around a bend which is a good spot. You need a long lens at wide appature as you will be shooting through 2 fences. A step is handy to overcome the first fence.

Let me know what it's like there! I'm going in September with Fujifilm, I'm not exactly sure what they have planned, but it seemed a great chance to mix photography and racing.

Here are a couple of shots from BSB Thruxton on the practise day.

I've flown from there a few times between races, it always struck me as a accessible site for photography but I never tried myself. They do track days there too if anyone fancies that.
