I am sure most of you will have already heard of this concept/idea. But I thought I would give it a whirl this year and wondered if anyone else was planning the same?

The Idea:
There are a few variations on this idea, but what I am planning to do is take a photo a day for a whole year (hence the 365). I had originally thought I would start a photo blog and just post a shot each day, but that was too easy, so aswell as the blog (which will be more professional shots) I am going to actually take at least one photo (that I am happy with, and isnt just something on my desk - though dont hold me to that on day 136 :p ) a day, and post it onto flickr (and maybe onto here, all in one thread).

Why:
I always say to myself "I will go out and take some photos today", but then I sit infront of my PC and find something 'better' to do. But now I have spent a crazy amount of money (for me at least) on my new camera and lenses I have to make use of them, plus I love taking photos once I am 'out there'

So if you are planning similar or fancy trying the same, please join in! might be more of an incentive to know there are other people trying to find something to photograph on a rain January morning :p

Ive decided that a photo a day is probably too ambitious for me, well it is if I want it to be worthy of keeping.
So, Im intending to try and get one good shot per month... something Ill be satisfied with (when am I ever) or at least worthy of putting into my portfolio, an image that will hopefully show some growth in my abilities over 2008.

I've thought about in passing once. Taking one a day is hard enough, but taking one that you are proud off, that is what gets me. Good luck with it. :)
 
hehe thanks everyone, I think I am being ambitious, but hopefully not too ambitious. Guess time will tell. One of the joys of being self employed and working from home is that I can just take an hour off and b****r off to find something to shoot, and then make it up in the evening. Think I would find it impossible working a 9-5 :(
 
Good luck with the project. I'm also looking at a more monthly shot, with the idea of getting to one 'event' each month. I find it difficult to find a free half hour some days so a shot a day is well out of my reach.

It would be interesting if you could create one of those mosaic photo's, all the years little shots creating an image when viewed together. Do you know what i mean??

My dad tried to do a shot a day for 5 months while away over last winter and he says it is very very hard to take a different photo everyday
 
Good luck, if I got one in 6 months I would think I was doing well, to do one a day is a huge task.

Like the others I'd find 1 a day just a bit ambitious. I may try 1 a week, I'll have a think on it.
 
I have had a think about it, and I'm going to be doing one a week.
But not just random things, I'm going to be taking photos of things that are relevant to that particular week.
Good luck mate, a picture to be proud of is a pretty formidable task.
Congrats if you get to the end of it though!
 
Well well well Jimmy. Just today I was thinking the same thing (I hadn't seen this thread earlier, sorry!). Ive joined a 365 group on flickr, and Im thinking of attempting the very same thing.

I like the idea of one thread on here which I will update once a day with a shot. I didn't manage to keep to one a day on my photoblog, but hopefully with me never being too far from the 365 subject, I wont run out of photos :p

Taking a shot a day is not actually all that hard to do. It's getting the little sod off the camera, through the puter and onto the internet somewhere that's the real pain.

It's also much much easier if you don't have to lug a great heavy camera round with you the whole time.

Sounds good to me, i may do it once a week aswell.

I don't work but will be getting back to my course after new year :( ohhhh damm, the days of fun are well gone until the summer
 
Yep im thinking one a week for me! or most likely once a month....did anyone ever see a website called "****'s Daily"? lol where a photographer guy took a photo each day and put it on the site. it was good!
