Thread Preview Missing After W10 Upgrade

After upgrading to Windows 10, I have lost the thread preview that I used to get before the upgrade.

When hovering over a thread title, a pop-up window containing part of the post text would appear (using IE, not Edge). After the upgrade all I get is a tool tip saying "Go to first unread message" I assume that the W10 upgrade included an upgrade to IE - but I want my preview back!

Any ideas of how I can restore the preview?

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks Gramps. Firefox is an option, but pre-upgrade IE had been 100% reliable and I'd never felt a need to change. If I can't find a way to restore previews in IE I'll try FF or Chrome.

Windows 10 doesn't have an upgrade for Internet Explorer. Microsoft want everyone to use Edge and have only included IE11 for people who have to use IE for compatibility. Having said that, the thread preview works for me using Edge, so its something in your setup. Which isn't very helpful :(.

Thanks Steve & Neil,

Since posting this morning, I've tried my laptop and the preview works ok, so it's definitely something to do with the desktop config that caused the glitch.

I'll try your suggestion Neil, I was hoping to avoid cache/cookie clearout - all those username and passwords!

I had a look at Edge.....I'm sure it will be nice when it's finished!

Interesting - I'm using Chrome with Windows 10 and my thread previews have disappeared too. Noticed it a few days ago...

Just tried rebooting - no change.

I seem to recall this happening a few years ago (with Windows 7) but for the life of me I can't remember what the cure was...

Another day, another problem gone away!

My previews are back this morning, there was an update processed when I switched off last night, so perhaps that has something to do with it.

Jez, I still had previews with Chrome yesterday, it was just IE that was playing up for me - the vagaries of a complex OS - I hope your previews return soon.

Today I have lost the previews in IE, they were there all day yesterday. I still have previews in Chrome.

It's tough to diagnose when it's apparently random.

Any suggestions?

Chris

No amount of cache clearing will restore the previews.

I have noticed that if I reboot the PC previews work and will continue until the PC is booted from cold. So there's something wrong in the browser configuration that prevents previews from working until I reboot the PC.

Booting from cold does not solve the problem, it has to be a reboot.

Previews work in Chrome.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks Neil,

Thing is, a reboot restores the previews......and they always work on two other W10 PCs here....hence thinking there's something amiss with IE or W10 on this PC, rather than a forum problem.

I have removed and reinstalled IE, still no change, but a reboot "cures" the problem every time.

I hate letting a PC problem get the better of me - I'm getting grumpy with this one!
