It's not a new idea i know but I wanted to give buddypress a try out on wordpress and ended up building this site.

It's hosting on a temp domain depending on peoples thoughts (Togs)

It's a Photography Network site

Heres my Page Feel free to register but 50/50 on whether it will ever go live it's just been a play thing for a few days.
 
Was planning on doing a similar thing last year with "photographynetwork .co.uk" & "photographersnetwork .co.uk" but haven't got round to it as yet. would avoid wordpress tho major security issues
 
contrary to common belief about using certain plugins and not using admin as the username, etc there is a serious flaw in wp that means that if a site allows user registration it is vulnerable to an xss flaw that can give a hacker access to the sql database without using the admin section
 
source?.

By default allowing user registration is switched off anyway

Source, i found this flaw last year, there are a few referances online in various hacking forums, but im not going to post instructions, i no longer offer wp to my clients or allow it on my servers.

Thats all right - and I absolutely understand your viewpoint. But, without meaning to be in any way rude (or even sound it) isn't there a non technical article about the issue somewhere?, and you sound like you know what you're talking about, but maybe a link to your homepage?
