I'm starting to think about changing my trusty 24" iMac for a sparkly new 27" beasty in the next couple of months.

Has anyone got any thoughts on what the summer will bring for the iMac?

I'll have to step up to cs5 or 6 too with Lr4 as my old cs4 lr2.7 with on ones photo suite won't handle running in full 64 bit, so I'm trying to second guess how much of an increase in firepower it'll need over the 24" duo core I have.

I love the format of the iMac , so not really fussed about the rest of the range. Minimal kit on the desk is the way forward :)

I'm hoping the iMac range gets the ivy bridge chip and the rumoured anti reflective screen. :)

ivy bridge (+usb3), 8BG RAM and anti reflective screen would better be there :rules:

I have always had a preference for MBP + big non-reflective screen, but I could probably see myself getting an iMac in the interest of saving some cash, and keeping the old MBP for travel.

not sure apple would ever take on USB3 with thunderbolt?

certainly a matte iMac would be interesting

you know you will soon need usb3 to connect almost all external storage, printers, scanners and so on. Please show me anything TB not made by apple. In other words no USB3 is a plain technological suicide.

um.. lacie, graid, WD, seagate... to name a few, all have thunderbolt offerings :)

it wouldnt be completely unheard of for apple to damn the standards and go down their own route. they could keep USB2 for basic peripherals not needing the speed.

just a thought though, who knows what theyll do.

USB for me at present isn't an issue, the only thing I have permanently attached to my mac is my drobo via fw800 and as it's a back up it isn't really speed critical. :)

A non reflective screen would be brilliant, i often end up in odd contorted positions trying to eliminate reflections.
