Thought on Ebay batteries

Looking at getting a spare battery for my Canon 550D and there are some really cheap ones on Ebay. Just wondered if anyone had experience of these, or is it just worth spending the extra and buying a genuine one?
 
7 day shop is the usual place, forget the Canon one.
 
Never bought off Ebay but I used the 7day shop ones in a 40D and a 5D without any problems but when I got a 7D and 5DMk2 I went for the genuine Canon ones.
Mainly because of the cameras ability to recognize the battery and they are interchangeable between the two bodies
 
Another recommendation for the 7dayshop own brand ones, mine arrived less than 2 days after ordering and seem just as good, if not better than, the original canon one.
 
You get what you pay for on Ebay. For really cheap read really cheap! Better to stick with Amazon or 7day shop due to the number of cheap chinese copies.
 
I have bought extra batteries for my D3100, GF3 and FZ-45 and had no problems.
 
I bought some for my D300 cheap from ebay. the charge lasted the same length of time the nikon ones do. so for me, no problems,
 
I got a spare for my X100 for £4. It is rated higher than the Fuji battery but doesn't last as long so I use the Fuji one as main battery and the copy as a backup (so does it job perfectly and for £4 happy enough)

Yet another recommendation for the 7dayshop batteries. I have a few for my D70 Nikon and they work just as well (actually, better - the original was recalled!) as the original Nikon one. Still going strong after several years and providing as many shots per charge as the original too. TBH, I wouldn't touch the super cheapies from e-bay with a bargepole. To be perfectly honest, I don't use e-bay at all - mainly because of PayPal but also because the place seems full of scammers, fakers and other charlatans.
 
I recently purchased some LP-e8 batteries from eBay and they last aslong as the original canon battery so no complaints as yet, not too sure what they will be like in a month or so but only time will tell
 
I have a few types and models of batteries and I find the oe canon ones to last the longest my duracells are good but the non branded ones don't last as long
I'm sure the high power label they stick on these non branded cheap batteries is purely just a label and is not indicative of the batteries true rating
The branded batteries feel much heavier than the non branded ones
All my basic user testing is based on the in camera battery display, how accurate these are on the non branded batteries I don't know
I also use a battery grip and have at times had a branded and no branded in at the same time and found the branded to fine on an trip out but the non branded is low on my return home

Bought a cheap one from either amazon or 7dayshop, i can't remember now for about £7 posted.

It last's equally as long as my genuine canon one, and about £30 cheaper!
 
Annsmann are a high qulaity German manufacturer of batteries, search around for their equivalents, often very keenly priced and I have found very reliable

mine weren't amazon or 7 day shop I might buy one of theirs and try that considering the price
 
I've bought a 3rd party grip for my 550D and it came with 4 extra batteries and they are still going strong on the wifes 650D (same grip and batteries) and they're used regularly. I got 3 more so that I had an even number, 8 altogether, and I've had them about 18 months so far. They charge just as well and work as well as the Canon one that came with the camera but they were a fraction of the price. The grip and 4 batteries cost £36.99 off ebay and the 3 extra batteries were £3.99 each and again off ebay.

I don't find this to be the case with my ebay batteries particularly with my 650d which seems to be far thirstier than my 600d was
The ebays whilst ok don't seem to last any where near as long as the branded ones I have
 
i have purchased a number of cheap ebay batteries for both canon 400D and 40D bodies, and have found to be very very good....:thumbs:
 
Have bought batteries off ebay a few times now and never had any issues....sometimes they actually last longer than OEM, being higher capacity.

It's a thing you have to be careful of because of the risk of fire with them.

I'd go for a cheap, decent, branded battery. I tried 7 day shop ones once and they both disintegrated in the charger after a couple of months use.
