In the last few days I have heard some stories talked about weddings, most not fit to be repeted on a public forum, but heres two I can safety share.

On one of the weekends wedding I got chatting to the video guy, then he asked me how the video worked, turned out it was his first day and he hadn't seen the camera before that morning, just given it and sent out, he told me he got the job because the guy he replaced (from last weeks wedding) forgot to turn on the mike so there was no sound on the previous weeks wedding video.

Then theres a wedding tog I talked to today (not with us) who was telling me she turned down a bride last week because "she was a little plump" and wouldn't look good on her website (£1500 booking).
Whats happened to the world, is it just me or has all common sense gone out the window??

My favourite 'idiot' moment from this year has been the Wedding Limo that brought the Bridesmaids then FORGOT to go for the Bride and simply went home

She eventually got a lift 20mins late from her uncle - thankfully it was not at Town Hall or I think she may have missed her slot

But yes, turning down a Bride as she's fat is a bit strange isn't it

:lol::bang::bonk: In that order...:)

You always meet the lovliest people at weddings :suspect:

if I'd turned down plump brides I'd only have done 5 weddings this year!

Anyway everyone looks beautiful in their wedding dress - and if not then you haven't done your job very well

Surely taking good photos of a 'plump' bride would do your business wonders? Other brides see it, think "well I am smaller than her and these shots look great" they are going to come to you?:cuckoo:

Some people really make me chuckle!

The only reason I'd turn down any job is if I didn't click with the person, if personality clashes it will have a negative effect on your finished products.

At least, that's what I'll do if I ever get good enough to set up a business :)

I like the sound of her. It's her business and website, and if she doesn't want this bride as a client, so what? I wonder if she told the woman the truth, or if she fudged it?

Hahahaha, quite awesome. I did the video for a friend- got given the video camera 10minutes before- as I was told that they would like me to video it (heard I was good at photography). Tried to explain it was rather different... but they didn't mind. I have never seen the video- but it made them both cry (in a happy way) they said

The best one I heard this weekend was from someone sitting behind me during the ceremony - "which one's the wedding setting honey?" Alright it wasn't a pro but still, made me chuckle

She fudged it!
The daft part is she's pretty short of work (thats why she rung me) yet it's the second wedding customer shes turned down in the last couple of weeks. I don't think she has another wedding now untill next year, and she needs the money. She turned down the other customer because " it didn't feel right" although thats not what she told the customer.
I argree there are times when your gut instinct says run away, but sometimes you have to grit your teeth and just get on with it. lets face it theres a recession on, prices are on the up and we all have to eat.
Yes in an ideal world all my brides would look like page 3 girls, and I'd be driving a Bugatti and look like Tom Cruise but the worlds not ideal and I'm stuck with a Renault. And as for the Tom Cruise bit..... well lets just say he has the edge and leave it at that. ;)

I picked this on another site earlier this morning. B***s up doesn't begin to describe it. I reckon the photographer got off quite lightly in court, he'd probably have been paying punitive damages for ever, plus the costs for the bride's psychological counselling etc, in the US!

Damn, that's kind of harsh, but I can see her point. Maybe my own criteria for accepting work may not be quite as tough as this photographers, but I can understand what she means.

Her business hangs on a thread where her last job might be the difference between three new jobs or three lost jobs.

As a "plump" in english fat woman with 3 teenage girls [sizes 14-18],this is exactly what we would say/did.
A while ago we had family portrait done of the kids & after looking at quite few photographers portfolios my daughters opted for the photographer who had done more "fat" people pix & who's pix made the women look their best[my daughters words not mine] & they were defo right, their photos were brilliant & they looked stunning.

I am amazed people could give up that amount of work and you don't have to put every job on your web site anyway!

for our wedding we researched the photographer, went to his studio and looked at his work. we also did the same with guy doing the video. there's only one chance to get your wedding pics and research is essential!!
