Does anyone have a picture I can download or a link to one of those charts that show you where the sun will rise / set at certain times of the year ?

Looking at a trip to the lakes in October and it would be handy to work out a few angles beforehand.

Cheers in advance.

Anth.

I know your sorted but it is called a depssi chart and they only cost around £3.

You can get them from here:- Warehouseexpress

Did you find a link to a downloadable one?? IF so are you going to share it?

For use on a PC, there's SunClock5. It's free and can be used as a screensaver. A newer, paid-for version is also available.

You can work it out.

What you need to remember is this.

At 12 noon GMT the sun is due south (in northern hemisphere); at 6am it is due east, and at 6pm it is due west. (Add 1hour for BST).

It moves around steadily at 15 degrees per hour between sunrise and sunset.

In conjunction with a good (OS) map you can work out where the sun will be anytime, any place.:)

From my understanding the depssi card can be used to work out at what point on the horizon the sun will set for any given month, I know from experience that where I live it set's north of Lundy Island during summer month then rolling back to south of Lundy Island in the winter as the sun sits lower in the sky, but the depssi cards helps you work out where it set wherever you are.

Sorry guys & Gals, I emailed the PDF to Anth.

THIS IS THE LINK though for anybody else who wants it.

It's fairly useful, although I use a clear perspex compass and I put it over the sun compass and then drew on the real compass with an indelible pen.
