Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum catagory, but does anyone know of anybody that still uses a Polaroid instant camera these days? I've not seen one about for ages and I thought I read somewhere that Polaroid had gone bust until I walked into my local Curry's store and see a large LCD tv made by none other than....Polaroid!!! Strange eh!?!?

If you still use one, what do you use it for?

Michael.

People still use it.
Its still looks pretty cool, but film is becoming harder and harder to get.
Plus its pretty expensive too.

As Konastab01 says the films are pretty expensive these days, although they were never cheap.
Some medium or large format film users still use them for lighting tests. When I first started my studio business donkeys years ago I couldn't afford the proper Polaroid back for my Bronica so I made my own "Pola-Luitelski" it woked supprisingly well to be honest. Wayne

(Reuters) - Consumer electronics company Polaroid Holding Co said it has agreed to sell its assets including the Polaroid name and brand to a private equity firm based in Luxembourg.

The maker of iconic instamatic cameras said it had entered a "stalking horse" asset purchase agreement with PHC Acquisitions LLC, an affiliate of Genii Capital SA, a Luxembourg-based private equity firm.

Under the terms of the agreement, PHC Acquisitions would acquire some Polaroid's assets including, but not limited to, all its intellectual property rights and its name and brand, Polaroid said in a release.

Polaroid Corp filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December last year.

The company said the finalizing of the deal would depend on approval from a bankruptcy court and also be subject to the company receiving "higher or otherwise better offers."
