Rant over

Really hope your holiday does not go down the drain. Was just sat here watching it thinking that if the big ones are going down there will be no where safe to book a holiday soon :(

They've only asked for assistance from their wbankers, no need to worry I'm sure you'll be OK

Its only a resutrcture of their finance to see them through a turbulent time. With the lack of business they have been getting due to unrest in certain hot spots that give them the volumes they need during this time of year, shouldnt really be cause for concern.
Me thinks, certain investment firms are making some major profit off short selling and buying back the stocks in Thomas Cook Group

Hi Dave, heard an interview on the radio today... even if the worst happens TC are ATOL protected and your money if not the holiday is safe.

was going to say I am sure they are ATOL or ABTA or whatever, maybe both....

Baga's good or at least used to be  Have you been before?

I did get a wee shiver about the plane used to Sharm el Sheikh a couple of weeks ago.

However you are fully covered with ABTA so chin up!

That sucks, Dave - I feel for you... I'm sure it'll all work out. I know you'll be covered with insurance and ABTA, but getting your money back's not going to be the same as having to track down another holiday and remake all your arrangements...

hanks very much everyone for your replies and reassurances, as you all say they are ATOL protected, so no pros getting our cash back, but I hope it doesnt come to that,

No Steve never been to Baga before so really looking forward to it,

BBC travel correspondent, Simon what's-his-name, this morning, "Travellers should not be overly concerned, the worst case scenario is getting their money back but being unable to travel".

If you do lose your destination...you will get a cracking ski deal at that time Dave....

Much as I am against censorship, the press are not helping matters much. People now thinking of booking a holiday may now think twice about using TC so they may struggle even more. Not so much of the money as that is safe, but about the inconvenience. It is only a deal restructure, but this news is really not helping.

^this^

from Yahoo News page

Thomas Cook shares crashed 75 percent Tuesday as Europe's second biggest travel firm said it was renegotiating terms with banks after a sharp drop in business, forcing a delay to its annual results.

Despite its problems, the group on Tuesday said it expects to report a headline operating profit for the 12 months to September.

Bum, we are trying to get them to pay us the money they owe us for a voucher we know that a holiday firm honoured, but they are claiming has not been.
Bum.
Only $100 out of pocket basically, but it is still money I would rather have than an administrator.
(the company I work for just went into administration too, meaning I am redundant and owed a lot, so it makes me even more bitter about administrators)

Yep, wish I'd bought a load yesterday after a nice 10% bounce back today. Company I work for dropped from 350p in 2007 to under 4p in 2009 we are still going and now at 26p, so somebody has made a killing if they bought at 4p, and good luck to them for taking a chance.

I would not worry to much Dave, share price does not necessary mean a company is about to fail.

Book the flights with the airline and the hotel direct with the hotel? It's what I always do. Although that's just made me realise my passport is expired and it's been a few years since I used it ...
