The clocks go back by 1 hour and I love it.... Anyone else love this time of year? going to work in the dark, coming home in the dark? must admit I will be glad to see the back of Halloween and stuff :D but I love the dark :) or am I :cuckoo:

i think your crazy, i detest the fact that i spend the only hours of sunlight inside in a building wiht no windows!

i do like the cold evenings and the crisp mornings though!

I love winter.
It's very romantic.....

I can't stand being hot. I can never cool down.
If I'm cold, I can put a jumper or something on.
Or go for a run.

(Ok that last one was a complete lie :bonk: )

Does that mean it will be dark about 5?

thanks for reminding me - i have a long drive on Sunday (Swansea to Reading) now i have 1 hour less in bed.......

you love the dark? - wear sunglasses then...

i seem to get SAD every year - about this time...

Panic not, you get an hour more in bed!

The only thing i hate about GMT and BST, is that i HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE coming home from uni in the dark. It's depressing leaving the house in the morning in the dark, the sun comes up when in uni, and it's dark again by the time it comes to going home again.

The best thing though, is that i will be facing my first winter being a hobby tog, and i'm looking forward to some misty scenes, where i don't need to get up stupidly early in the AM for it.

I quite agree. Also, I find that, although less often due to stereo-typical misserable weather in winter time, sunsets have far more potential to be breath taking than in summer.

Getting there. It's getting dark at about 6.30ish at the moment so give it a week or two and it will be.

What is wrong with my Birthday?

Cold mornings and crunchy grass?

Dark evenings and drivers that don't look for anything that doesn't have two socking great lights on the front? :shake:

With you on that...although I would add 'cyclists who don't bother with lights, hi-viz clothing and ride down the middle of an unlit road then get upset when you shout at them, because it's their road.'

:D Sorry for the mini rant. Crisp mornings, crunchy grass etc are great, but it is depressing knowing that every moment of natural light is spent working. Especially when I had that with sunny weather this year :bang:

You shouldn't shout at them Chris.

You should flatten them.

I have no time for those who choose to go out without any lights or reflectives on.

Lights aren't expensive. Healthcare is.

I'll be going up to London to spend Saturday night with my ladyfriend. That'll give me an extra hour of fu . . . fun and frolics!
Speaking as someone who works in a tomato greenhouse, I'm actually welcoming the winter. The summer is too tiring for me, getting up at 4 am and proceeding to spend all day working in a hot greenhouse is enough to test the most patient of saints.
At least in the winter I do start to feel more like a normal person where I don't find myself literally falling asleep on my feet come the afternoon!
And in terms of photography opportunities, the Autumn and Winter season easily provides the best and most interesting lighting. Even when it's dark, it leaves plenty of room for night time photography. I find the harsh light of the summer too much for me.

I love winter! cracking light and its nice and cold :)

Best time of the year :)

Sadly if I flatten them, my insurance will be just as expensive. They're a real nightmare round here. They just don't give a f&%k, and the runners aren't any better. I live on an army garison and the regs say all road runners must wear a viz vest, our guardrooms even hold ones they lend out, but people still don't bother, then try and sue when they get runover!

If anyone needs me I'll be in the angrydome!

I know what you mean.

I'll often ride alongside those who don't have lights and point out just how stupid they are, and often the response is "Well I'll take the chance". Well what about the poor b*****d who has to live with knocking you off?

As for runners, I have to be honest and say most that I see round here (and when I used to run) were all pretty good with the vizzies, even if it was just gloves.

Me? Two lights on the front, three on the back, and reflective tags on the backpack/camelback. If they knock me off, they deserve to feel bad! :D

Now, how much to rent that angrydome of yours?

That's a good point that...that could get me trouble as I think I'm working on Sunday...

...best find out hadn't I?!

Sunday at 1 am......there you go, an hour extra in bed..................

or awake an extra hour with insomnia........

Actually 2 am... but then again at 2 am they go back an hour so it's actually 1 am  so if I do something at the first 1.30 am then the clocks go back at 2 am... do I have to do it again at 1.30 am :bonk:
