This SDHC ok?

Thanks, good price. Thing is, i don't like to put all my 'eggs' in one basket and would prefer to have several cards.

Anyway, Transcend are a good make?

Well I can only say I have one... perhaps best wait for someone who has used it in anger! :)

I've got 2 transcend cards, never had any problems with them. Probably not as fast as the higher priced Sandisk etc but I rate them for the price.

I've got an 8gb Transcend cf, which is fine

I use 4gb transcend class 6 in my Panasonic full HD camcorder with no issues whatsoever. I expect they will be faultless in a D-SLR.

Thanks for the pointer, I just ordered the 8GB (£9.45 reduced from £25.99)

There is a 16GB for £17.51 from same class and brand on amazon.

I have a 16Gb class 6 SD card by Transcend, bought from Amazon & it has worked faultlessly for a year. I use mainly Sandisk & they have never failed me either.

just about to make a thread about my one - I have an 8GB Transcend class 10 SDHC and it seems soooooo slow.
When shooting RAW I can take about 4 frames in high speed shooting mode before it grinds to a halt and I might and well just use single shooting mode, it literally takes one frame every 1 and half seconds :(
and transferring the files takes a relative long time - I have a class 4 kingston in my panasonic compact and the files on there are about 4-5MB each (12mpx) and transferring 10 files takes about 5 seconds or less (~10MB/s which is about right) whereas the transcend will take 20 seconds easy.

I've never had such issues with Sandisk or Kingston and when I receive my £10 amazon gift voucher from LoveFilm (30 day free trial + £10 voucherand £7.50 quidco...nice) I'll be putting it towards a Sandisk 8GB card.
Food for thought

Ive got the 8GB one, its class 10 but like timmy says it seems slow, but then ive only got it as a backup to my Sandisk Extreme III's. For my primary cards there is absolutely no way i would buy anything other than Sandisk due to the fact they are so damn fast. But as a backup the transcend will be fine.

Si

yup my transcend will certainly be consigned to the backup job

Sorry to be boring, but price is a rough guide to quality.

Save £15 on a card and lose a shoot?

I'll stick with Sandisk.

I'd say it depends on what you're intending to use it for. If you take single shots fairly slowly then it'll be fine. If you're an action photographer using continuous then it won't be.

I've got a couple of 4GB Transcends I use with my compact and they've performed just fine.

SanDisk 4GB Extreme 30MB/s SDHC Card (Class 10) This is a good one then?

Just received my camera today, well happy days, (its UK model and brand new off from bombay), now i dont have the card yet, the only one we have at the moment is Sandisk class 4 i think, will that do the job for couple days until i get to town to get new one ?
Didnt try yet as battery is charging and missus is away with the other camera where she uses the card.

Cheers

Yes, it'll be fine.

Thanks guys, just playing with my very first SLR camera and im delighted
Seems the 4gb Sandisk class 4 card works fine so far :)

I see the 8GB version is now only £9 here

Guys you really are writing transcend off without realising how big they are Transcend has been ranked as the world's third largest manufacturer of Flash Drive behind Toshiba and SanDisk, with 8.7% global market share. They produce a vast amount of flash based products for many leading brand manufacturers. I use 16gb class 10 cards and 16gb UDMA 600x cards from Transcend without any problems. I shoot in excess of 4k shots in a weekend. Ive had no problems with them or their lifetime warranty. Seriously dont underestimate these cards. My wife is in distribution and you would not believe the markup on sandisk products.

I've always used Sandisk in my cameras, but bought a couple of Transcend 4GB SDHC Class 6 cards for an HD camcorder. They were going for a good price and I just wanted to try it out. No problems at all.

Selling a lot of something does not necessarily make it quality. I have never used Transcend cards so can't comment on their cards. When I bought MyMemory own brand CF cards in the past, which were rated as high speed, I occasionally had errors in continuous shooting. :( Since switching to Sandisk I've had no such problems. They may be more expensive, but they work as described, and so far, fingers crossed, I haven't had a problem in nearly 4 years. I'm happy to pay the extra for Sandisk. It is not as if any memory card is that expensive now. ;)

No it doesnt, I agree. Thats my point about Sandisk! The point I was trying to make was that this company makes cards for a lot of Branded manufacturers. They are single handedly responsible for the introduction of DDR technology in memory products.

I am only saying this to advise people that just because the name is new doesnt mean the product is bad.

no...I realise that and I also know they make some very high performance computer RAM, however, the Transcend SDHC Class 10 card that I have is slower then my PNY (I thought it was Kingston but seems not) Class 4 card..110% fact. Others I know report the same problems and problems with compatibility, as redhed said, I've not had an issue with Sandisk
