Yes
I know this may sound a strange either or but.....do I buy a Nikon 50mm f1.8 or a Sigma 30mm f1.4??

I know the price difference is huge and I know they are not even the same focal length but I've had a Canon nifty fifty (I've changed camera brands) and loved it but felt it was too long a lens.....so, the Sigma 30mm came to mind and hence my dilemma.

Discuss.

I guess the sensible (easy) is that if you found 50mm to be to long then the 30mm is the obvious choice :)

What kind of use will be you putting it to?

You remember the olden days when you bought a film camera with a 50mm lens and it was used for everything, you either walked closer to, or further away from your subject.......those kind of uses.

General walk around lens.

Sounds like the 30mm would be ideal then, as long as you can get close enough to your subject when you need to :)

Not looked, what are the price differences?

I've also been pondering the Nikon 28mm f2.8 & the Nikon 35mm f2.......so many choices is giving me a headache.

.....and f1.4 to f2.8 is two full stops

Erm, why not get both? Isnt the Nikon "Nifty Fifty" as cheap as the Canon version?

The Nikon 50mm is more expensive than the Canon.

@ Forbiddenbiker.......Exactly.....or 1/30 against 1/8.
