This is what happens when you let other people set your lights for you

well you have now, youve made a really big fuss.

ive said this a million times, if you dont like a post/thread, then report it, if you have a problem with site operation, use the contact us feature. If there is a legal issue you think we are missing, then contact us. we have specific ways of getting in touch, but bitching and making vague accusations on the forum isnt the right way to do it

This constant negativity from some people on the forums is very destructive and im getting very tired of having to justify what we do all the time.

Matty, you have PM.

Also just because they do not openly try and push products onto you during a Sponsored course does not mean there is some intention or influence to get you to buy that product, I'm sorry call me sceptic but there is no one out there that would fund a course where they don't make any money if there wasn't a hidden agenda, I don't care who you are or what your intentions are.

I go on free Solid Works course, they don't cost me a penny I get a days worth of free training using there software & a lunch in the middle as well all for nothing, then at the end of the day they give you a little leaflet with some more information and how to order upgrades or more seats for the software, ok so they didn't openly force you to buy the software but at the end of the day they didn't offer me the chance to buy SolidEdge which is a direct competitor.

I may have the wrong end of the stick here so I will apologise if so :) (I also have no axe to grind for the record)

Of course companies want to show you what you can do with their products at these courses, they also have an interest in making sure you are successful using them and that you use them to be more successful in your business. But that's not neccessarily a bad thing. If you are successful, they sell more products, everyone wins. No one is forcing people to buy stuff, I only wish they had the courses here. I think people need to be a little less cynical at times, its not a great trait to have especially if you're a people photographer and want to be successful. You have to be realistic about how things work, but that doesn't mean every company is out to get us.

A lot of us here are professional photographers, does that mean any advice we give in posts should be met with suspicion? After all why would we give away how we do things to all the potential competition?

I had a much longer reply then this but enough has been said in other threads, I would just like too apologise to both Jonathan & Gary for any offence I may have caused.

Phew! Got to the end! I have been around on these forums and others for a while. If someone who is obviously a pro tog and linked to a company in whichever way they are and whose name shows as advertiser is prepared to offer helpful and constructive advice then why moan? If you don't like it you have choices either ignore, shut up or find the nearest exit.

For someone like me, this forum and the contributions of those much more experienced, is invaluable so give up on the moaning before we lose valuable assets that make tp what it is regardless of whether they pay to be here or not.

This isn't personal I just hate people not appreciating the impact their comments may have on others. If there is an issue the mods will deal I think we can be sure of that!

Rob.
