I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what had been done to this Landy.

Forgive quality, phone grab-shot and there was someone inside. :)

nothing surprises me when it comes to pink cars anymore...there is a Pink Hummer H2 limousine driving round my area.. and a local dealer has opened a car spray booth on the side of his garage which specialise in spraying cars pink...

Im telling ya, they all go and buy the same playboy window stickers and reg plates to go with it..:nono:

camo doesnt matter what colour it is most animals dont see in colour! but seriously pink is not good!

There is a special landy version used by UK special forces in desert conditions, extended wheel base and pink. It's called a pink panther. Supprisingly it is good camo for situations like that.

I want to paint one our Landies in either tiger or zebra strips.......

pink was used on landies in the desert.. "Pinkies" it works well there..

The SAS used pink Land Rovers as well didn't they?

I was driving over the Dartford crossing bridge on Monday and saw a bright pink 80's Merc estate with matching hubcaps. The bloke driving had to be mid 50's. My son and I cracked up.

Not got a pic of a real one but here is a model of one

the pink is really hard to see at night and thats why thet SAS used it for there covert ops.

The story I heard was that the British Air Force used a downed plane in the desert to find their bearings coming in to land, which over time disappeared, it was found that the silver had become a sandy brown pink colour which in a heat haze made it blend into the background.

But that could just be an urban legend.

Cool. I think cars are a bit dull and need jazzing up. Remember those spikey rubber backpacks you used to get, why can't cars be covered in textured rubber. It would look cool, wouldn't rust and couldn't be any worse in an accident. Don't think there is enough ladybird, flowery cars on the road and way too much silver (more of a grey really).

Agreed, but of course there is only one colour for cars, and that's black (except for Ferraris of course, which must be red). Henry Ford was right

 ... Crikey bob ... :suspect: ... the driver looks v. poooofy and even the gun barrel has gone on the wilt in protest at that ...

:p

He does rather, hadn't noticed that:lol:, as for the gun barrel i blame the heat :naughty:

Landies should never be painted black! The panel ripples and other irregularities show up too well.
I'll try to find a couple of pix of my old 90 after modification.

The "onlly colour as long as it's black" statement is a bit of a myth. the Ford Model T was available in sixteen different colours throughout it's life, including five from 1904-Red,Green,Grey,Blue....and black. The original shades were all very dark, almost black, as dark colours dried more quickly, hence speeding up production.

Oh and Ferraris are only red as that is the Italian racing colour,German cars should therefore if being pedantic, be silver, French cars blue and British cars Racing Green......

If you want to be pedantic, German racing cars should be white. Auto Union and Mercedes were close to the weight limit in the '30s so simply didn't paint their cars and just left them polished alloy.

Again, [pedantmode] BRG isn't a specific colour. Compare the greens from Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar, BRM etc, they're all different! Also, the Irish national motor racing colours are green with a horizontal orange band.[/pedantmode]

And there were many shades of white used by the Germans and not all alloy bodies were exactly the same shade either. Dark Blue is used as the Scottish racing colour, but many shades of that can be seen too on the various different racing cars down through the years, what's your point? ;)
