This is how to photoshop

See i think with decent lighting and a bit of common sense as far as angles go, you could easily make people look ten times better than those awful plastic versions, i appreciate Photoshop is good for a wee bit of alteration (toning down a nasty spot or something)

but that is just over-board

I think a lot of people are missing the point.

As I see it, the link in the o/p to the girl who looks like a plastic doll, is MEANT to look like a plastic doll. I dont think the "artist" is simply trying to make the girl look beautiful, or better in any way.

That said, I dont like the effect at all, and as others have mentioned, think it looks strange.

Each to their own.

The comments of "looks like a Thunderbird puppet" makes me think there could be a market for this.

What kid wouldn't like a picture of themself as their favourite Thunderbird/ Joe 90/ Captain Scarlet character? Grab some costumes, a little choice of scenery and you could charge a fortune! Thinking about it - you could even turn the picture into a dolls head for the child! Bit creepy but I'm sure there are parents out there who would pay a fortune for their child as a doll!

If its a serious portrait attempt then - OMG!

the more i look at them the more i think how wrong they are! if you want a doll go buy one dont turn you kid into one!

Seriously, very clever, and a great example of what digital photography can do these days, but still awful shots.

thats exactly what I thought! heeeeuuge forehead monstrosities made on all the baby pics they show...look like plastic dolls! who pays for this sort of stuff?
