Read this earlier on today and actually laughed out loud.

I've always had a bit of an issue with this guy but this clearly shows he's not thinking straight :bonk:

"Not only is it cleaner than my full-frame Nikon D3 ever was, my settings automatically conjured perfect WB and Auto ISO on the fly regardless of conditions"

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/00-new-today.htm

He's an absolute legend..and by legend, I mean idiot.

2.) I continue to be astounded at the new level of performance the D7000 has set for the industry. Looking at the clean shots I got automatically at way over ISO 2,000 (see Ryan and Katie) in all sorts of screwy conditions, I appreciate my D7000 more and more all the time. I had no idea the D7000 was reaching that high; it just did, the the pictures look better than perfect, considering the dark conditions.

I wonder if he knows who makes the D7000's sensor?

What does this guy actually look like. I have so many images in my head. Middle aged, glasses and slightly overweight come to mind.

I hear about this guy but can't see evidence of this famous behaviour. Perhaps I need something more ridiculous. Someone fill me in?

You forgot Jack Nicholson style beard, Hawaian shirt, khaki shorts and sandals, at least that's how I'd imagine it...

Just love these

•Before Nikon or Canon releases a camera they go to Ken and they ask him to test them, the best cameras get a Nikon sticker and the less good get a Canon sticker

•Once Ken tested a camera, he said I cant even put Canon on this one, thats how Pentax was born

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

That first one really is a fact!:)

Very harsh I think.

I find him very entertaining and whilst I'd take some of what he says (some days all...) with a very large pinch of salt I also think that he talks a lot of sense sometimes too and there's no denying (IMVHO) that he's a good photographer.

I like his don't hold back and tell it how he sees it approach and at least you wont see him claiming that you need the very latest Canon/Nikon DSLR to take good pictures or suspect that he's giving gear a good review to keep the manufacturer happy.

Seconded to the word.

Like he says "If you lack a good BS detector, please treat this entire site as a work of fiction."

Thing is, you read it, commented on it, posted a link, then I read flippin read it and so did loads of others, and that's how he makes a living!

Like he says "If you lack a good BS detector, please treat this entire site as a work of fiction."

The thing is a lot of people don't see the warnings and take what he says as authoritative fact because he has a website, without verifying his 'facts' anywhere else. :bonk:

Rather than try to correct the occasional idiotic statement, I just advise people to steer clear. Or get his facts verified in a few other places. (wikipedia not being one of them ;))

He says a lot of stupid statements to generate site traffic, and he's very successful at it. A thread like this pops up every few weeks on many photo websites and those who have no knowledge of him go and see what his site is like and so he gets more traffic. Ka-ching $$$ ;)

Yes but he's entertaining and that's good in itself especially when so many people seem to be afraid of expressing an opinion or saying anything that's even remotely outside the accepted view.

He's a bit like Jeremy Clarkson... not exactly for people who don't like a laugh and can't think for themselves.

Ken Rockwell is my Hero

Anyone else think that KR may have written that fact list about himself?

Very much the Clarkson of photography but Clarkson is sometimes entertaining...

Ken also expresses his views on cars but I don't think I've ever heard Clarkeson on cameras.

I have not looked at his picture, but he reminds me of one of my university lecturers. His name was Bodger (honestly) and he would teach whole classes (by that I mean hour sections of time, he could never teach a whole class, we where asleep under baseball hats.) with his left hand in his pocket the entire time. He taught (or tried to teach) Information Systems for Business to me, curly white hair, you get the picture.........

Wow, I've seen some of his pics before that put me to shame, but those pics are really very...average.

He's a guy of huge variance, sometimes awesome, sometimes a loon. Never too sure how to take his reviews.

I love how he's using a massive lens (500mm?) and a flash that will not only be blocked by the lens but also probably not have the range to go with the lens.

The majority of people who have posted on this thread are Nikon users, including me.

Though an hour section once a month on different cameras and watching clarkson, hammond and may rip them apart/praise them would be funny :)

You could almost imagine may waffling on about the technical bits whilst hammond tries to move a huge lens... ;)

I set my first DSLR up with Ken's guide D60, and I thought that the results where astounding untill it was pointed out to me that grass is green and robins are not blue......

Aww, I love Ken Rockwell. (Yes, I'm a Nikon user). He's great! Normally makes me laugh and I take everything he says with a pinch of salt but if you're bored and want entertaining for a bit, he's your man. :p
