weekly Thirsty's TP 52 challenge for 2016 - Week 52 Celebration

Three excellent theme, Urban, even through the tunnel its Urban but I love the pairs, the combination of the flowers and shoes:) and the big double bass, spot on with all three.

All on theme Nigel but Pairs tops the set for me - beautiful colours and composition. Great choice of the double bass for Big too - so unusual.

Hi Nigel,
I like all 3.
'Big', I think, shades it for me for the story telling, though I can appreciate the effort. thought and composition of 'Pairs'.
Urbam too sells the scene, but whilst the communters on the left are sharp (at least on flickr), the tube is soft and I feel that should also have been sharp.

All very much on subject. Pair stands out for me, well composed, straight, and vibrant colours against the white wall and window frame. I wonder if for big a lower PoV would have worked even better.

I think for Big, theres nothing else to show scale, which is a shame as the idea is good...

Pairs - yep on theme and sharp.

Urban - Train looks a tad bright and over saturated, especially for the theme, but compo is bang on.

(Hope Madrid went ok !)

Great catch up Nigel

Urban - Really like this love the inclusion of the train on the right and the people on the left with the lighter area pulling your eye through the image to the tunnel.

Pairs - Best of the 3 for me love the colours and composition, love the bright colours of the shoes and the flowers, you've handled the light coming through the window really well.

Big - I agree with @Hertsman it needs a sense of scale, I like the idea and composition though.

Hey I like those shoes on the windowsill. And the BIG double-bass is cool in a very different sense. (y)

Thanks Carl, I thought the shoes were the best of the bunch as well. :-)

Thanks Tim, to be honest I didn't have a lot of time to get the shot, hence it's not 100% maybe should of waited for the next train :-)

Can never please you :-).... the train is a little over now you mention it.

Thanks Mark, problem with Big was that there wasn't
really anything else I could use other than the CD's in front of it so made the best of what I had :-) but know what you and @Hertsman mean.

Beautiful bit of architecture - I like the symmetry and lighting. Well taken Nigel

Beautiful light and symmetry, works very well.

Octopus-like Alien. Excellent detail Nigel, especially in those "tentacles" and I particularly like the sheen on the bulbous bit.

Nice find Nigel look alien to me great DoF and B&W conversion

Very well seen and the processing really makes it alien, well done

Interesting...what is that - A rosehip ?

Nice DOF

Yup a rose-hip, tried it in color just didnt work B/W seems to suit it.

Thanks Mark, had been looking for something like this for a while :-).

Blimey Nigel, that sure does look like something from another planet pictured like that, like something off the triffids !!!

Thanks DK

Thanks Chis, I was pleased with how it came out.

really like the alien pic, well spotted

Thanks Allan.

Very clever - it does look octopus like! The black and white was a great way to keep it mysterious.

Thanks Emma.

Welcome to the shoehorn club with your 'after' shot ;) Nicely done.
The Alien looks like a monster from the deep :) I'd have been tempted to clone out the stem(?) at the top to give it the look of floating / flying. B&W was the right way to go.

Well spotted, that looks alien indeed. Great DoF and processing.

Hi Nigel

I like the uniformity of After Dark. A well-lit building can take on a whole new appearance.

Alien ... sure is! Nice detail & DoF.

Hi Tim, didn't think it was a shoehorn :-).... Thanks for your comments thou (y)

Well spotted, that looks alien indeed. Great DoF and processing.

Thanks Bernd

That certainly does look Alien, I agree with Tim about cloning out the top of the stem, it would add to the 'other worldly' look.

Thanks Susie, I've thought about it but then think it wouldn't look natural...

Thanks David, was pleased with the after dark shot, I like finding those uniformity type shots. :-)

Hi Nigel. Nice catch-up - you must be nearly up-to-date now surely. What a terrific bridge that is - so ornate and nicely vibrant blue. I like Spooky best with that ghost-like figure. How did you create it - a composite?

Thanks Carl, yup almost up to date just got this weeks now seemed to be playing catch up for ages :-).

I like the bridge too, great color as say, spooky is a composite and used layers and reduced the opacity to give it the ghostly look.

Liquid - Must try harder....but you knew that.

Cracked - like the idea, but personally, I would have shot a more detailed panel of the arch - the right side in particular illustrates the cracked theme more clearly

Spooky - is that the canal bridge down the lane from me ?

I did try a more detailed shot of the arch but it didn't work and like how the arch leads your eye over to the other side.

spooky, its the bridge along the canal near Wendover so near you.

Yeah, the arch does take the eye - but thats not the theme - fine if it was curve or something......Just sayin.....

Ah, not quite where I thought you were.

Nowt wrong with the rain on glass shot Nigel, a typical grey vision we all get at this time of year !!!

Cracked - Lovely colour and leading line of the arch, can't help but like flaky paint :)

Spooky - Ahhhh a shady river bank with a ghostly figure, a good idea and nicely portrayed :)

And a good catch up too !!!
