weekly Thirsty's TP 52 challenge for 2016 - Week 52 Celebration

Happy is well taken with the candlelight nicely exposed. As for abandoned, that was some find and so well themed.

Hi Nigel

Sorry I appear to have missed you r thread.

Great start to your TP52 I love Abandoned makes me ask why is he up there poor thing

I like Abandoned, even if I struggled to see what it was. Lifting the shadows would definitely bring it out a bit and make it more obvious. Very atmospheric.

Happy is on topic too, though I can't decide if the reflection on the table top is distracting or interesting. Looks a bit small for a birthday cake too :)

liking the cupcake for Happy, Abandoned is a better image, stong subject and conversion

Hi Nigel

Liking the simplicity of Happy. :)

Happy - Not sure on the verticals. Is the candle wonky, or the horizon? (Probably the candle as the flame looks verical). Great colours.. Puts me in mind of a lighthouse.
Abandoned - Great shot of the abandoned monkey & building. As @Phil Bennett says, such a shame it wasn't in Hartlepool.

Happy - simple and effective I can see what people mean about the candle reminding them of a light house I like it.
Abandoned - good spot perfect for the theme and the monkey does seem to be reaching out to you

Hi Nigel - catchup time for me :)

Old - nice shot of Amersham. Having grown up in my early years in Berkhamsted, those sorts of houses are familiar! Gritty low key look works for me. Could do with a tiny bit of distortion correction from the wide angle lens, perhaps?
Metal - nicely lit and the shiny-ness really comes through. Good use of DOF. B&W perfect medium for this sort of shot. I prefer your first shot of this series (i.e. the one you chose originally!)
Captive - bang on theme, but I'm not loving this shot as much. Harsh daytime sun probably not helping the image for me?
Miniature - a clever take and the use of DOF really works here to reduce distractions but still leave the "mini" legible. Only suggestion would be to get a touch more light on the Oreos themselves, perhaps using shadow recovery in post?
Happy - perfect image for the theme and good use of central composition. I do like the reflection and might like to see a smidge more of it?
Abandoned - well spotted for a unique take on the theme! Nicely done.

Camouflage, perfect for the theme, just enough of everything to be great

Cracking shot for Camouflaged Nigel. Really well done.

Excellent mini catch-up Nigel. Like the clarity and vibrancy of Dangerous - the black bg makes the subject stand-out and it's very well lit too.

Dangerous. You'll get no argument from me about that :D
Nicely presented Nigel :)

Topical, bang one theme too

Hi Nigel, I like that for dangerous (as in I love chilli, but I also like your image!) Lighting works well, although softer is always an option with those highlights :) As is a bit of water spray if you wanted to get fancy! Chopping board is a good background and although it looks a bit floaty, it works.

Well done!

Topical is spot on - good DOF and angles creating a sense of perspective and interest. Nice background as well under the paper - all works well so another very good job...

camo - nice done the effect isnt too in your face but he blends vry well

Dangerous - having recently made a soup with a little too much crushed chilli I'm right there with you!

Topical - very on theme and nicely composed :)

Two interesting shots Nigel. I feel both could be better focused.

Hi Nigel ....nice set up for Dangerous, super bright colours against the black, it works really well. I agree with d00d about the focus, it could be a bit sharper.

Really like your Topical shot, focus works fine on that one for me ....I like the composition with the newspaper and the euro.

Hi Nigel

Dangerous - A good black background although the board appears to be floating, but a great selection of chillies, all of which are nicely lit :)

Topical - Oooo Holidays !!! I like how you have laid this one out and focused on the Euro notes :)
